Michigan Tech Theme
There is now a new option for modifying your left navigation in the Michigan Tech theme (looks like the Michigan Tech homepage or your department page). All prior options are still available.
WordPress 3.0 comes with a new feature called “Menus”. This feature allows you to create a hierarchical menu of custom links, pages, posts, categories, and post tags. To create a custom menu, go to the “Menus” page under “Appearance”.
Information on creating and using custom menus can be found on the Appearance Menu SubPanel (http://codex.wordpress.org/Appearance_Menus_SubPanel) page of the WordPress Codex.
The Michigan Tech theme supports two Theme Locations. Main Navigation and Quick Links. Menus placed in the Main Navigation Theme Location will display the first level as a header (the portion you click to slide open). I recommend using Custom Links for these as the link will be removed. It will then only display the next two levels of links. The Quick Links Theme Location will only display the first level of links.
Plugins
All plugins have been upgraded to their latest versions. If you experience any issues with any plugins, please let me know.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics have been added to all blogs using the Michigan Tech Theme, by default. You can use this plugin to add tracking to your own Google Analytics account or other blogs.
ShareThis
This plugin has been upgraded and allows for the latest features of ShareThis to be included. If you use this plugin currently, I recommend visiting the configuration page (Settings -> ShareThis) and checking the new options. The default Publisher Key is the Michigan Tech key. Feel free to use your own if you have a ShareThis account.
