This is the theme for this year’s D80 Conference – a dialog and celebration of our efforts to solve issues that confront the 80% of the world’s population that is under-served.

This year’s event will feature keynote speaker, Grace Hsia, Co-founder and CEO of Warmilu.

Clean Cooking = Clean Cookstoves + Clean Fuel

Consumer Product Manufacturing (CPM) Enterprise is partnering with Agri & Forestry Investment to help balance the clean cooking equation in Benin, West Africa. CPM is providing engineering support for charcoal production from palm kernel shells (an agricultural by-product), resulting in a cleaner fuel and more sustainable production process than is currently used. Sustainability The Game at Michigan Tech

Andres Tarte, M.S. Environmental Engineering graduate, will be presenting Sustainability, a strategy board game that aims to promote ecological thinking for sustainable development. Described as “Monopoly meets Risk, but instead of conquering the world you have to save it,” the game dynamics are based on real-world statistics and allow players to better visualize connections between socioeconomic development, public policy, and resource consumption. Two events are scheduled:
Monday, Nov. 11, 3-4 pm – Environmental Engineering Graduate Seminar, GLRC 201
Monday, Nov. 11, 7-9 pm – Game session, Fisher 138 (pizza and snacks will be served)
