Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI): New Funding Announcement

Dear colleague,

We would like to inform you that the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) has released a new funding announcement, “Research-Related Conference Support for Planning of Individual Participant-Level Data Meta-Analysis (RRCS-IPD MA).”

PCORI recognizes that effective planning for an IPD MA begins with convening researchers with relevant data from multiple studies on a particular clinical area to evaluate the importance and feasibility of an IPD MA. Under this PCORI Funding Announcement (PFA), we aim to support research-related conferences that enable investigators to meet and build viable, working collaborations to plan for high-quality and rigorous IPD MAs that can inform decision making and patient choice in clinical areas of demonstrated need and value. The support is intended to facilitate the process of identifying and bringing together all key players, as well as establishing the needed commitments related to IPD MA proposal development and data sharing to conduct a successful IPD MA.

Total costs for each conference award must not exceed $50,000. As a natural follow-on to this funding opportunity, PCORI plans to issue a future PFA to provide funding for conducting, analyzing, and reporting results of IPD MAs.

The IPD MA initiative will help PCORI fulfill a mandate in our authorizing legislation to assist patients, clinicians, purchasers, and policy makers in making informed health decisions by advancing the quality and relevance of evidence through research and evidence synthesis.

We invite you to take a look at this announcement and share this information with others who may be interested.

The funding announcement is available on our website, and we are accepting and reviewing applications on a rolling basis.

Best wishes,

Joe V. Selby, MD MPH
