Lecture Series on Experimental Fluid Dynamics
Dr. Dennis van der Voort
Michigan Technological University and Eindhoven University of Technology.
Weekly beginning September 14, 2017
Thursday, 1:00 PM-2:00 PM, Fisher Hall – 131
Sponsored by the Elizabeth and Richard Henes Center for Quantum Phenomena and the Department of Physics, Michigan Technological University.
A series of lectures covering the basics and measurement protocols of experimental techniques in fluid dynamics, emphasizing laser and optical methods. The lectures will cover Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), both in general and in relation to turbulence measurements, as well as Laser-induced Fluorescence/Phosphorescence (LIF/LIP), Schlieren, and Schadowgraphy. A previously completed course in basic fluid mechanics is recommended, but not required.
