We are excited to announce that the Northwestern Center for Synthetic Biology was awarded a new REU site for summer undergraduate research in synthetic biology (called SynBREU: Synthetic Biology REU). Since the award was just made official, we are under a tight timeline to get the program started and would appreciate your help in spreading the news to all interested undergraduates at your institution, and particularly to all students from minority and underprivileged backgrounds. Applications are due March 15. For full information and a link to the application, please see our website, synbreu.northwestern.edu
Announcing 2018 Summer Research Opportunity
NYU Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (NYU-MRSEC) is offering a 10 week REU program from June 3rd to August 11th 2018. We kindly ask that you share the attached flyer with your department and encourage rising sophomores and juniors to apply. Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) fellowships are awarded to and Engineering Center undergraduates from four-year colleges and universities for participation in a ten-week summer program designed to provide unique research experiences, professional development, and increased awareness of materials science and engineering. Discover and unravel the fundamental organizing principles of matter that impact the fabrication of complex materials – from the molecular to the colloidal to the macroscopic scale!
Benefits for REU participants:
Research Stipend — $5,000
Travel — upto $300
US Citizen or Permanent Resident
* Program dates: June 3rd to August 11th.

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University will offer its 3rd annual Research Experience for Undergraduate (REU) program this summer. Your assistance in circulating the below flyer is kindly requested to announce this great opportunity for students to gain research experience. The application itself will only take a few minutes of the interested participant’s time, although we do also ask for a statement of purpose and letters of recommendation.
The deadline has been extended to: FEBRUARY 16, 2018!
The University of Arkansas Department of Chemical Engineering is now accepting applications for the 2018 Separations & Commercialization REU Program. In addition to a traditional research experience, participants will work with companies to determine the commercialization potential of their research and tour several chemical facilities.
A PDF is attached, and interested students can find application instructions at https://chemical-engineering.uark.edu/reu/index.php or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
My apologies, the earlier USF FMMI REU brochure had an error in it in terms of the web address to the main website. If possible, please broadcast out the attached corrected brochure (which was also compressed to a smaller file size for easier email distribution) to any of your undergraduates who may be interested in a summer REU experience this year. Our Functional Materials & Manufacturing Institute has space for a significant number of undergraduates in our summer REU program to work in a wide variety of research fields related to functional materials and advanced materials manufacturing processes. The deadline for applications is next week on February 13th, 2018, so there is still time for interested undergraduates to apply. Details on applying are in the attached brochure.
