Aura Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship 2016-2017

Purpose: Provide a scholarship for a student currently enrolled in a health-related program.

Amount: Two recipients will receive a $1,000 scholarship

Award Criteria: Applicant must be a resident of Baraga County with preference given to an Aura resident. Applicant must be currently enrolled and on sophomore standing or higher at a college or university or be accepted into a 2 year program in a health-related program and should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).

  • A short essay stating intent to apply for this scholarship
  • Two personal/character references with contact information
  • Recent/current grade report or transcript indicating major and cumulative GPA

NASCAR Chevrolet Diversity Scholarship Contest

The NASCAR/Chevrolet Diversity Scholarship offers college students an opportunity to learn and become involved in STEM, a key area of importance to the success and future of GM and the motorsports industry.

Four selected winners will be awarded a scholarship, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience at a NASCAR race, including a tour of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage, pace car rides and meet-and-greets with Team Chevy drivers and Chevrolet NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Program Manager, Alba Colon. Students can submit a 90-second video that describes a STEM related racing application and its significance to motorsports. Entrees will be judged on technical accuracy, creativity and production value. The deadline to enter is Saturday, October 15, 2016.

To be eligible, students must be currently enrolled, at least part-time, in an accredited college or university within the United States, including Puerto Rico, be between the ages of 18 and 25 at the time of entry and submit a YouTube link through the scholarship website.

Asthma & Allergy Scholarship

According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), asthma affects approximately 25.9 million Americans and more than 50 million Americans suffer from allergies. With Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month in May, it is our pleasure to contribute to the effort to raise awareness with the first ever National Garage Door Atlanta Asthma and Allergy Scholarship. This scholarship is intended to assist one hard working, high achieving college student who lives with asthma or allergies.

Eligibility: Been diagnosed with asthma or suffer from any type of allergy
Currently enrolled students with a minimum GPA of 3.00

 
Application: Choose one of the topics below, and write a 500-1,000 work essay

  1. In what ways has having asthma or allergies shaped or changed your life plans? How did you go about confronting and overcoming these limitations to push forward with your goals?
  2. What’s one thing you think would make the biggest difference in how society treats asthma and allergies?
  3. If you could give one piece of advice to someone who has just learned they have asthma or allergies what would it be? Why?

The SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund is dedicated to fostering the next generation of automotive aftermarket industry leaders and innovators. Scholarship awards range from $2,000 – $3,000, with $5,000 going to the top student. SEMA Scholarship winners will be invited to attend the 2016 SEMA Show. Assistance is available for career paths in the automotive industry in:

The current minimum eligibility requirements are as follows. A student
must:

  1. Be a U.S. Citizen enrolled full-time in a program of study at an
    accredited university, college or post-secondary vocational/technical program
    located within the United States, at the time of application.

(Permanent/Legal residents and High School students are not eligible to apply.)

  • If currently attending a four-year accredited university or college
    you must have completed a minimum of 50 credit hours
    OR
  • If currently attending a two-year accredited community college or vocational/technical
    program you must have completed a minimum of 25 credit hours
    OR
  • If currently attending an accredited automotive training certification
    program, you must have half of total curriculum requirements/classroom hours
    completed.
  • If pursuing a Master’s, Post-baccalaureate or Doctorate degree, provide
    proof of acceptance or proof of enrollment in a graduate program.
  1. Have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  2. Be pursuing studies leading to a career in the automotive industry
    or related field.
  3. Remain enrolled as a full-time student in the first academic term
    following receipt of the award.

Application process:

1. Provide unofficial school transcripts

2. Provide one (1) letter of recommendation:

  • From a post-secondary teacher, administrator or guidance counselor; someone
    who is familiar with your academic performance. (Letter from a relative or friend
    will not be accepted.)
  • The recommendation must be submitted online; a document may not be uploaded
    or mailed.

3. Provide two (2) 250-word essays in response to
the following questions:

a) Why do you want to pursue a career in
the automotive aftermarket? What do you feel you can contribute to this industry?

b) The automotive aftermarket is driven by
the passion of the people in it. What drives you? What inspires you? Why should
you be awarded a SEMA Memorial Scholarship?
