Library Closed for Staff Retreat

Most areas of the Van Pelt and Opie Library will be closed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, for a staff retreat. The library and the circulation desk will remain open, but all other service areas, including archives, reference and interlibrary loan, will be closed.

Interlibrary Loan office Moved

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

The Interlibrary Loan office at the J. R. Van Pelt and Opie Library will move to room 102 of the library on Wednesday, May 27. The office will re-open and resume normal operations on Friday, May 29. There will be a delay in processing interlibrary loan and document delivery items during the move. Email ill-l@mtu.edu with any questions.

Do You Know the History of Your Property?

University Archivist Erik Nordberg will provide an overview of sources and techniques for researching historic properties and buildings in the Copper Country. The presentation will identify historical records housed at public records offices and local archives that can be useful in understanding the history of your property, the construction of your building, and the people who may have lived or worked there.

The event will take place at 7:00pm on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at the MTU Archives and Copper Country Historical Collections, on the ground floor of the Van Pelt and Opie Library at Michigan Tech. The presentation is part of the ‘Archival Speakers Series’ and is free and open to the public.
