J. R. Van Pelt and Opie Library Blogs

The new Walking Paths & Protected Areas of the Keweenaw guidebook is designed to increase awareness of local land conservation efforts and special habitats in the Keweenaw, its unique features, and rare plant and animal species found in Houghton and Keweenaw counties.

“I noticed that a lot of people were unfamiliar with the sanctuaries and preserves open to the public for walking, education, and non-motorized enjoyment,” said Joan Chadde, K-12 education program coordinator for the Michigan Tech Center for Science & Environmental Outreach and Western UP Center for Science, Math & Environmental Education, who compiled the guidebook.

TechReads is a program on the Van Pelt Library website and information wall that showcases influential books recommended by members of the Tech community. The book could be one they are currently reading or one that made a significant impression on them.  The book is displayed in the new books area on the library first floor.  We hope TechReads inspires you to read something new, and to stop by to browse our new books. We invite you to recommend a book - email TechReads@mtu.edu for information.
