RAIL INDUSTRY PRESENTATION:  Join the Railroad Engineering and Activities Club (REAC) Tuesday , October 11th from 6-7:30 pm in DOW 875 for a presentation and to meet with a member from industry.  Pizza and pop will be provided.  You will learn about the Rail Industry and the great future they can provide for you.  Hope to see you there. INTERFAITH DIALOGUE:  Is there one that is true?  Please join Dr. Subodh Pandit October 12 – 14 (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) from 7:00 – 9:00 pm in M&M U115 to compare the five main world religions– Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Buddhism and Judaism.  He will also be addressing the existence of God and if there is objectivity in the concept of Truth.  These presentations are sponsored by the Campus HOPE Christian Organization.

HUSKYLEAD SERIES:  The Michigan Tech HuskyLEAD series is about to kick–off for fall semester.  The purpose of these workshops is to educate and elevate the leadership development of our student organization officers and their members.  We hope that students attending will build understanding and skills needed for leadership within their student organization, as well as in other areas of their life.  The sessions begin on Tuesday, October 11 and meet every Tuesday at 6:00 pm until fall break.  Each will be held in the MUB Ballroom A1. Please encourage your student organization officers and members to attend these workshops.  Students may attend one, several, or all sessions.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Beth Lunde at blunde@mtu.edu .

Foundations of Leadership – Week 7 – Tuesday, October 11
Participants attending this session will become familiar with the liabilities and responsibilities of being a leader.  In addition, they will learn how to recognize their own strength and weaknesses along with delegation and goal-setting tips in their leadership role.

 
Roberts Rules of Order and How to Run a Meeting – Week 8 – Tuesday, October 18
Participants attending this session will become familiar with and feel comfortable using the typical meeting structure of Roberts Rules of Order and will learn the best techniques and practices in how to run a meeting.
Teamwork – Week 9 – Tuesday, October 25
Participants attending this interactive session will become familiar with managing group dynamics and working through conflict management and understanding others perspectives through various techniques and tips.
Event Planning/Logistics – Week 10 – Tuesday, November 1
Participants attending this session will have a better understanding of how to plan large and small scale events. They will also understand what resources and opportunities are available to student organizations to enhance their success.
Utilizing Advisors – Week 11 – Tuesday, November 8
Participants attending this session will understand how to better utilize their organization advisor(s) and their role.  In addition, they will learn what advisors can and cannot do for the organization.

 
Time Management – Week 12 – Tuesday, November 15
Participants attending this session will be able to learn how to put sleep back into their schedule, through various exercises focusing on balancing academic, extracurricular activities, and other responsibilities.

POST GRADUATION CAREER BLITZ:  Come to the Grad/Med School Career Blitz on Monday, October 17 for free guidance involving Post-Graduate education options.  Academic Advisor Stacy Cotey will be hosting the Career blitz from 6-8pm in Fisher 129.  The session for Graduate school is from 6-7pm.  The session for Med school will be from 7-8pm.  This is a great opportunity to figure out what steps to take to continue your education; we hope to see everyone there!  Sydney Bruestle  slbruest@mtu.edu

FILM BOARD:  This week Film Board is showing Transformers 3 (in 3D) in Fisher 135. It will be shown on Friday and Saturday at 5:30, 8:30, and 11:30 pm.
