Cardboard Boats 2013

1. Cardboard Boats Happening Today!

Michigan Tech’s popular Homecoming tradition of cardboard boat racing will happen today at 4:00 PM on the Houghton waterfront near Chutes and Ladders Park. The event will happen rain or shine, so students and spectators are encouraged to dress accordingly.

There is limited parking near the event, so it is recommended that the following parking areas be utilized to prevent parking citations issued by the City of Houghton:
  • The Aspirus Keweenaw Medical Arts Building (now vacant) — just west of the bridge on Lakeshore Dr.
  • The Houghton Parking Deck (on top or below) — just east of the bridge on Lakeshore Dr.

The city of Houghton and the Houghton Police Department ask that you do not park along the side of the road, in anyone’s private driveway or on their property, on the grass, or in the Roy’s Pasties & Bakery parking lot.

On Saturday, the Tailgate fun starts at noon and the first 500 people get complimentary food. The football game starts at 1:00 PM against Saginaw Valley State. GO HUSKIES!
