1. HuskyLEAD for Student Organization Leaders

Attend 4 or more HuskyLEAD workshops during Spring 2015 and your name will be entered into a prize drawing!  Fundraiser_KK_Iranian Community2. Khana Khazana Fundraiser

Khana khazana at Michigan Tech is going to present Iranian food on Friday, January 30 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the MUB Food Court. The whole meal is $6.95 with free fountain soda and $2.50 for one side. 

Through Khana Khazana the Iranian community is having a fundraiser for, Sanaz Nezami, who became the victim of a tragic case of domestic violence. Here is the link to the website for more information.
The main dish is “Chelo Kabob Taabei”. Its a grilled ground beef and ground chicken mixed and seasoned with onions and special spices, served with tomato sauce. For vegetarians, we have, Veggie Green beans KuKu, which is a fried mixture of green bean, carrot and egg with walnut taste. For salad we are presenting, Shirazi Salad. Its a perfect combination of cucumber, tomato and onion, simple but wonderful. For dessert, Ferni, a Persian dessert made of milk, rice flour, sugar, almond, and rosewater.

This year the Campus Bookstore will be open until Midnight for the all nighter on Wednesday, February 4! Raffles and giveaways will start at 5:00 PM.

7. Jazz Night on the Town

Mu Beta Psi in conjunction with the Michigan Tech Jazz Association presents Jazz Night on the Town, to be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 8:00 PM-12 AM  at the Orpheum in Hancock. A $5 minimum donation at the door.

The night will be opened by one of Michigan Tech’s Jazz Groups, AstroSax. This will consist of some of the best jazz musicians in Tech’s student body. Headlining the night will be Northern Standard Time. This consists of Michael Christianson on Trombone and Tuba and Michael Irish on Guitar. Mike and Mike are both professors at Michigan Technological University in the Visual Performing Arts Department. Michael Irish is a well-known guitarist and Michael Christianson has traveled around the world, been on Broadway, and played with many other famous bands.

This concert supports The John MacInnes Memorial Scholarship, which is a scholarship presented by Mu Beta Psi to Michigan Tech students involved in music programs.

Delta Upsilon14. Delta Upsilon Pinning Ceremony

The brothers of Delta Upsilon would like to invite the students of Michigan Tech to their spring 2015 Pinning Ceremony. 15. Winter Carnival Stage Revue 2015

During Stage Revue, campus fraternities, sororities, and several other student organizations present skits full of college humor that brings the Winter Carnival theme to life! The final performance will be Thursday, February 5 at 7:00 PM in the Rozsa Center.  General admission is $10.

Sometimes you just need to shake things up. Sometimes you need a little boost to the old routine…. Community Programs brings you not one but TWO specialty classes this weekend to help you do just that!

Belly Dance for Fitness Sampler – Come see what it’s all about! Learn to shake, shimmy and roll in this energetic cabaret-style class. Saturday, January 31, 12:00-12:50 p.m. in the SDC Studio. Cost is $7.

Yoga for Cross Country Skiers – A special workshop focusing on stretching and strengthening the muscles used most in cross country skiing. A perfect way to end a ski or start a relaxing weekend. Sunday, February 1, 6:00-7:15 PM in the SDC Studio. Cost is $10.

17. Volunteers Needed for Get WISE Workshop

The Center for Pre-College Outreach is in need of volunteers for the annual Get WISE workshop (Get Women in Science and Engineering)!  About 250 local 7th and 8th grade girls are invited to spend the day at Michigan Tech, where they participate in a range of activities to reconnect them with the exciting, dynamic world of engineering.Participants compete in several challenges, which include projects like: building and testing a bridge with household materials, creating a device to travel across the room into target zones, or designing a simple device that will stay airborne for as long as possible.  The event always makes a huge impact and is a ton of fun.

Get WISE will take place on Tuesday, February 24 from 9:00 AM – 1:30 PM in the Wood Gym.  Volunteers are needed to facilitate the activities, serve lunch, and engage with the participants as role models.  Please consider donating an hour or two of your time to make a difference in the lives of these young women!  Everyone is welcome to volunteer regardless of department or engineering background, and any amount of time is appreciated.

Relay for Life is selling Winter Carnival themed T-Shirts on All-Nighter beginning at 5:00 PM at a table between the MUB and the Library.

19. Engineers Week 2/22-28

Engineers week will be held February 2228 this year. Engineering week is to promote the study of engineering, how it can be fun, and why engineers are needed in society. Organizations are welcomed to put on an event during that week which promotes study of engineering but the events have to be related to engineering.
