Television Service Is Going Digital

During May 2012, Telecommunications will be upgrading the campus television system to digital. Most channels will be offered in digital HD with Dolby Digital sound.  There will still be a small selection of analog channels. The channel lineup will also be changing as we group similar programming together. Viewers will need a digital cable tuner in their television to tune the streams offered on the system. Those looking to buy a new set or cable box should look for “digital cable”, or “clear-QAM tuner” in the specifications.

Most analog channels will be removed from the system starting on May 1st. The work to install the new HD channels should be completed by June 1, 2012. Users of the system during this transition may need to scan nightly to pick up any changes made to the system that day.

An updated lineup will be posted to http://www.tc.mtu.edu/tv
