Postdoctoral Research Associate Position in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology Education Research at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.

 The successful candidate will develop interactive teaching modules and assessments focused on enhancing student understanding of the structure and function of macromolecules using physical three-dimensional models as part of ongoing efforts to transform undergraduate biochemistry education.  This postdoc will be part of an NSF-funded collaboration led by Karin van Dijk, Rebecca Roston, and Tomas Helikar from the Department of Biochemistry and Brian Couch from the School of Biological Sciences.  They will also join a growing community of discipline-based education researchers at Nebraska. PostDoctoral Position in Materials/Analytical Chemistry.

We have recently demonstrated the feasible syntheses of novel solid phase materials from a group of uniform materials based on organic salts (GUMBOS). A postdoctoral position is available for investigating the use of these materials for analytical applications, particularly sensing using the quartz crystal microbalance (QCM). To be highly competitive for this position, candidates should have a Ph.D. in chemistry, materials, physics, or related areas with research experiences in either of the following areas: analytical and/or physical chemistry, spectroscopy of materials, organic synthesis, syntheses and applications of nanomaterials, or syntheses of ionic liquids. LSMCE Annual Conference 2015

The Louis Stokes Midwest Center of Excellence (LSMCE) is hosting its third annual conference on October 23-25, 2015, in Indianapolis.

The conference will showcase student STEM research. Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) faculty mentors are encouraged to invite their students to apply. The poster session will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in the Golden Ballroom Preconvene.

Undergraduate abstract submissions selected to present will receive complimentary conference registration, two nights complimentary lodging at the Wyndham Indianapolis West, and a $250 travel award. Awardees will be notified via email by September 16 , 2015.
