Engagement and Belonging is excited to welcome the renowned scholar Dr. Ronald Jackson II to Michigan Tech this fall. Dr. Jackson’s visit is a key part of our commitment to building a more welcoming and supportive campus community. About the Bridging Communities Series
The Bridging Communities Series at Michigan Tech is central to our mission of fostering understanding and connection across campus. Through this series, we offer opportunities for meaningful conversations that explore various perspectives and encourage empathy. Whether through workshops, panels, or films, these events are designed to help our community develop the skills necessary for navigating difficult conversations with respect and openness.
About Dr. Ronald Jackson II
Dr. Ronald L. Jackson II is an internationally renowned scholar whose work has profoundly influenced the fields of identity, masculinity, race, and culture. Currently a Professor of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Miami, Dr. Jackson has also served as Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Cincinnati and has held faculty appointments at prestigious institutions such as Penn State and the University of Illinois.
With over 85 publications and 18 books to his name, Dr. Jackson is a leader in the study of intercultural communication. His experience in executive leadership coaching and IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility) training makes him particularly well-suited to address the challenges we face in building a more supportive academic environment.
Affectionately known as “Dr. J” by his students, Dr. Jackson is not only a distinguished scholar but also a passionate advocate for understanding and collaboration across diverse groups. His visit to Michigan Tech is a unique opportunity for our community to engage with one of the foremost experts in communication studies and identity scholarship.
