This week at Michigan Tech is Red Ribbon Week. This week is dedicated to raising awareness for Substance Abuse. The Interfraternity Council, Order of Omega, and Panhellenic Council will be holding events all throughout the week from October 22nd to October 27th, so keep an eye out for these events.
Following along from Innovation Week last week, there will also be an Innovation Day 2018 presentation on Tuesday, October 23rd from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. These times will be split into two different presentations, and they will be held in the Library, Room 224. The morning session will help you learn about resources to help out with your innovations, and the afternoon session will deal with patents more in detail.
If you are a student that is interested in learning more about getting accommodations for classes, make sure to check out the Diverse Dialogues presentation on Tuesday, October 23rd from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in MUB Ballroom 1. Here you can learn more information about how to get accommodations, and also what kind of situations Michigan Tech offers accommodations for.
It is now that time of year where the weather’s getting colder and more illnesses are going around. So, check out the Health Care 101 Series with Blue Cross to find out more information dealing with insurance and your many healthcare options around the area that you might find helpful if you end up getting a bug this winter. Halloween is near! That means that it is the perfect time for pumpkin carving. Luckily for you, the Memorial Union Board is holding a pumpkin carving session on Thursday, October 25th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. There will also be a Halloween movie playing and s’mores to eat! Stop on by and check out this event at the O’Connor House Backyard (OAP). Another Halloween event going on this week is the Rocky Horror Picture Show. This event will be held on Saturday, October 27th at 11:00 p.m. at the Rozsa Center. This event is free for Michigan Tech students due to your Experience Tech fee, so make sure you bring your IDs and wear your best Halloween costumes!
Finally, there are some athletic games happening this weekend that you can take a break from studying to attend. As you all know, Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan are rivals and the sports games get pretty rowdy. Luckily for you, Michigan Tech Women’s Volleyball is playing Northern Michigan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night. So, make sure to bring your best cheering and support the Huskies. Also, the Women’s Basketball team opens their season with an exhibition game on Saturday night from 6:00-8:00 p.m. against St. Norbert college. So make sure to come on out and support the basketball team for their first home match.
