Hello Commuters and welcome back to another edition of…

The Commute

We’re reaching the end! It’s Week 10, and there’s only a few more weeks left of the semester. Thanksgiving break is also coming up, so we have that to look forward to.

There is a Flu Shot Clinic on Monday, November 5th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in Alumni Lounge B. If you haven’t gotten your flu shot yet this year, make sure to stop by and get one at the clinic.

If you’d like to grab dinner in town on Tuesday night, make sure to stop at Joey’s Seafood for the Fundraiser going on for 31 Backpacks, put together by Triangle Fraternity. This event will be going on during their open hours (11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.), and if you participate, 20% of your bill will go towards 31 Backpacks. This donation is good on take out or dining in, just make sure you mention that you would like to donate towards 31 backpacks.

Our Michigan Tech Women’s Volleyball team has had a great season this year, and because of that, they have clinched a home game for the quarterfinal match in the GLIAC Tournament. This game will be taking place on Wednesday, November 7th at 7:00 p.m. in the SDC.

Also on Wednesday, Welby Altidor, an innovation extraordinaire, will be on campus to talk about how ideas can help lead to innovation through collaboration and failure to transform our approach to business and life. This event will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Rozsa. This event is free for Michigan Tech students, so stop by and hear more about Welby’s creative company and learn more about how you can be innovative in your own life.

League of Legends Club at Michigan Tech will be holding a 5v5 Tournament on Friday, November 9th from 7:00-11:45 p.m. This event will be held in Wadsworth Dining Hall. You can register online for this event. Solo/Duo registration can be found at:  and Team registration can be found at:

On Thursday, November 8th from 6:00-7:00 p.m. there will be another Healthy Husky Workshop Series presentation going on. This week’s event is: “Nourish: A Focus on Food”. Here you can learn easy ways to cook healthy and grocery shop on a budget. There will be tips, recipes, and delicious ideas. This event will be held in Fisher 101.

On Friday, November 9th from 10:00-11:45 p.m. there will also be a comedian Jessi Campbell on campus. Jessi was on the show “Last Comic Standing” and has performed live all over the country. Make sure to stop by for some laughs after a long week of homework.

The last game of the season for the Michigan Tech Football team will be on Saturday, November 10th at 1:00 p.m. This game is Senior Day, so make sure to come on out and support your Huskies and the seniors!

Also on Saturday, November 10th is the Rozsa for the Performing Arts showing of “Pinocchio”. This play is at 2:00 p.m., and is free for Michigan Tech students.
