Spring Break!

Hello Commuters and welcome back to another edition of…

The Commute

If you attended the Michigan Tech Basketball games this past week, you would have seen that the women’s team won, and with they win they placed #1 in the GLIAC North Division. The basketball season is now over, but with that first place finish, the women’s team has clinched a first round home game for the playoffs. The first round of playoffs will be held on Tuesday, March 5th at 5:30 p.m. in the Wood Gym. The Huskies will be taking on Northwood, so make sure to stop by and cheer on the Huskies!

This is our last week before Spring Break! It’s hard to believe that it is already week 8.

This week, on Tuesday, March 5th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. there will be a “Build a Buddha Bowl” event going on in the MUB Commons, hosted by the Memorial Union Board. Here, you can learn how to make a quick and easy, health conscious meal. This is very beneficial if you are living on your own, or will be in the near future!

Also on Tuesday March 5th, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. there will be a “Maximize your Buzz” presentation hosted by Student Activities in the MUB Ballroom. This presentation will talk about making values-based choices about alcohol, as well as having safe practices.

This week’s featured student organization of the week is…

Mitch’s Misfits!

This is by far one of my favorite student organizations on campus. If you’ve ever been to a Tech hockey game, you’ve probably seen the big dedicated group of students standing the whole game. That is the Misfits, Tech’s #1 cheering section at Hockey games. Not only are the dedicated fans at home games, but they also travel to away games to cheer there. They even offer low price trips to those games for students (if they have enough seats). I actually traveled with them to Northern this past Saturday for the rivalry game and it was a blast!

Mitch’s Misfits are always welcoming new members to help cheer on our Huskies, so check them out and cheer with them at one of the hockey games if you are interested!

That is all this week for the blog! I hope you all have a great Spring break!

Stay tuned after Spring Break for another edition of…
