Hello Commuters and welcome back to another edition of…
I hope you all had a great Spring Break and had a chance to take a break from studying and enjoy the week off!
There are not too many student based events going on this week, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of your Tech ID and go to the SDC. If you didn’t know already, all Michigan Tech students pay a Student Activities fee and one of the things this fee makes possible for you is to get into the SDC for free. At the SDC you can play basketball or volleyball in the multipurpose room, use the exercise equipment in the fitness center, or even playing racquetball in the racquetball courts. So, if you need a study break and want to get a good workout in, make sure to head up to the SDC. Just a reminder, there is also a Michigan Tech Shuttle that runs up that way, so if you don’t want to walk up the hill, you can get a ride up there with the Shuttle. You can go to: https://www.mtu.edu/transportation/options/shuttle/ to see the options and routes of the shuttles Tech has to offer.
One of the events going on this week is the MasterpiECE Mania Event. This event is put on by Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. Entries are any project you’ve ever built in the past or built specifically for the competition that is directly related to electrical and computer engineering. 1st place can receive $500, 2nd place can receive $300 and 3rd place can get $200. Registration for projects is due by March 20th, and the event takes place on Thursday, March 21st from 6:00-10:00 p.m.
Another thing that the Student Activities fee covers is certain performances and events held at the Rozsa Center. This weekend, on Saturday, March 22nd at 7:30 p.m. there will be a Don Keranen Memorial Jazz Concert. This event is free for Michigan Tech students.
That is all this week for the blog.
I hope you all have a great week.
Stay tuned next week for another edition of…
