Applications are being accepted for TECH SCEnE: Technology, Science and Community Engagement in Engineering, a summer 2022 Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. The opportunity combines engineering research with direct community involvement and impact. It is for students who want to see their contributions make an impact and be part of a program that applies science and technology to benefit the community.
Each project will team students with mentors at Michigan Tech and the Department of Natural Resources at the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community. The programs include several opportunities for hands-on lab experience, team building, and field visits to the beautiful lakeshores of Keweenaw Bay and Lake Superior.

Qualifications
- US citizen or permanent resident
- Enrolled in STEM fields
- Strong academic background
Past projects include water quality testing for heavy metal contamination, smart adhesives
for underwater applications, underwater acoustic modems for remote monitoring, simulating
daylight for hatcheries, and applications of electrospun nanofibers.
