New Library Guide for DEIS Resources

by Office of the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion

The Van Pelt and Opie Library, in consultation with the Office of the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion (OVPDI), has developed a new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Resource Guide, which will help students, faculty and staff access important materials related to diversity, equity, inclusion and sense of belonging (DEIS).

The guide is organized into subsections by topic, including race and ethnicity, gender, LGBTQIA+, disability, nationality and general resources. By providing book recommendations, journal articles and other resources in one location, the guide serves as a consolidated source to find DEIS information. Most materials are either open access or available through the library’s collection.

“Michigan Tech is committed to increasing diversity, equity and inclusion across campus,” commented Jenn Sams, assistant director of the library. “This site is a living, evolving compilation of resources — including articles, websites, videos, podcasts and more — on a range of DEI topics for you to explore.”

Resources will be continually added and reviewed by library staff to ensure quality and relevance. Michigan Tech students, faculty and staff are encouraged to suggest additional resources using the “Suggest a DEI Resource” form embedded in the guide’s left sidebar.

We invite the Michigan Tech community to use these resources to facilitate their DEIS research and to help implement our DEIS goals across the University.
