The College of Computing Learning Center (CCLC) and the Association of Student Computing Interaction and Involvement (ASCII) will present “Basic Cloud Computing,” a talk by Dominika Bobik ’23 of Microsoft, on Wednesday, January 24, at 12 pm in Fisher 127.
Dominika Bobik was born and raised in Poland. She graduated from Michigan Tech in spring 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. During her time at Tech, Bobik proudly represented the university on the tennis team. She now holds a full-time position as a software engineer at Microsoft, where she is working on an Azure service and focusing on the backend architecture.
The main focus of Bobik’s talk is the cloud. How does it work, and why do we need it? The talk will focus on ways to deploy a cloud service using tools like Kubernetes and Docker, followed by a discussion on how global distribution can affect your architecture. The software lifecycle management will be discussed, including a brief introduction to git and Github – what is a PR? Feature branch or push to master?
The Association of Student Computing Interaction and Involvement (ASCII) is a new student group. Want to learn more about ASCII? Please contact Daniel Masker, Joe Teahen, Hunter Kretz, or Carter Dugan.
