ZD-985 Desoldering Station

zd985

What is it?
The ZD-985 is a desoldering station useful for removing components from PCBs as well as excess solder. Some instructions are given in the User Manual.

Desoldering Station
The desoldering station is essentially two components: a soldering iron and a vacuum. To use it, first ensure the temperature is set such that it is hot enough to melt solder; the temperature of your soldering iron should be set depending on the type of solder being used. For typical leaded solder, set the soldering iron in the rage of 700 to 800 degrees Fahrenheit (370 to 430 degrees Celsius). Once the tip is hot, probe the component lead or excess solder to be removed from the PCB. Once the solder flows pull the hand piece’s trigger to engage the vacuum. Hold the trigger down while walking the tip around the component/solder until all solder is removed from the PCB. Releasing the trigger will turn the vacuum off.
