PACE Competition

The PACE (Partners for the Advancement of Collaborative Engineering Education) first-year design competition is for engineering students taking ENG1102, Engineering Modeling and Design. The PACE partnership is made up of leading software and manufacturing companies: GM, Autodesk, Hewlet Packard, Siemens, and Sun Oracle. For this year’s competition, the field was first eliminated to 16 semi- finalists and then reduced to 8 finalists. The 2011 place winners and projects follow:

1st place

  • “Full Suspension Human Powered Vehicle” by Riley Peterson, Kyle Johnston, Maxwell Farrell, William Cretens

2nd place tie

  • “The Brew Tower” by Samuel Genord, Wesley Karras, Ross Perigo, Matthew Schwalen
  • “Merry-Music-Go-Round” by Brett Giles, Cassie Kussow, Bradley Nelson, Danielle Williamson

3rd place

  • “Autonomous Aerial Security Drone” by Dylan Carlson, Benjamin Dion, John Keller, Andrew Komurka
