Graduate students of Polymers and Coatings (PC) program of College of Technology have made
significant achievements and demonstrated their outstanding competitive edge at national and
international events and programs, making EMU proud, while inspiring new graduate students.
Ozlem Akdogan, participated in three conferences to share her research outcomes and recognized for her
excellence in research. Besides awarded for the “best abstract award” at EMU’s
graduate research conference 2017, she was selected for “Outstanding graduate
research award in polymer science and engineering” by American Chemical Society
during its national meeting at San Francisco, in April 2017. Her research poster was
also among top 10 out of 600 posters at the International Polymer Science and Tech.
conference –MACRO 2017, in India.
Himanshu Manchanda and Forough Zareanshahraki
received outstanding technical poster award and $350
prize at the 2017 annual FOCUS conference of Detroit
Society for Coatings Technology, held in Troy, MI
during May 2017. Their technical posters were highly
appreciated by the committee.
Each year, Powder Coatings Institute (PCI) of Ohio, an
membership-based professional non-profit organization,
invites applications for coveted scholarship for deserving
students from across the United States. This year two EMU
students – Raviteja Kommineni and Shiyin Yu are selected
for this $5000 scholarship that will help support their
