The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley is generating an applicant pool of temporary part-time or full-time qualified lecturers to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the department should an opening arise. The pool will remain in place for one calendar year; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must reapply. Screening of applicants begins immediately and will continue as needed; some appointments may begin in the 2018 fall semester. Positions range from 33% to 100%. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department. Positions typically start at the beginning of the semester, and appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.
In addition to classroom/laboratory teaching and preparation, general duties may include (but are not limited to) managing and mentoring graders and/or graduate student instructors (teaching assistants), holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and using Cal’s electronic resources for course management.
Advanced degree or enrolled in advanced degree program at the time of application.
A Ph.D. or equivalent international degree.
Prior teaching experience is preferred.
