Open Faculty Positions @ Michigan Chemical Engineering

The Department of Chemical Engineering seeks highly qualified applicants for
tenure-track or tenured positions at all levels. Applicants should have a PhD in chemical
engineering or closely related fields, a track record of outstanding research, and a
commitment to excellence in education and student mentoring. We seek qualified ap-
plicants from all areas of—and at the boundaries of—chemical engineering. We are

Lecturer Position Available at SDSM&T

Instructor, Lecturer or Senior Lecturer
Chemical and Biological Engineering


The Chemical and Biological Engineering Department at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology
invites applications for an Instructor, Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Chemical and Biological Engineering
with an anticipated start date of the spring 2020 semester, however fall 2020 will be considered. The
principal duties are to (i) effectively teach Chemical and Biological Engineering undergraduate courses
and laboratories and (ii) academic advising. The CBE Instructor, Lecturer or Senior Lecturer may have as
their responsibility, preparing and presenting lectures, organizing and supervising laboratory sections,
developing and supervising design projects, writing and grading examinations and laboratory reports,
holding office hours to meet with students outside of class time, monitoring teaching assistants, and
assigning grades. Teaching faculty members will be encouraged to develop innovative teaching methods
and educational enrichment activities. Other duties may include involvement in course and program
assessment, curriculum development, on-line course development, professional advising, K-12 outreach
and recruitment, and other education-related committee work. This position is a full-time, 9-month
benefited, non-tenure-track, term position. It is anticipated that this will be an on-going position,
dependent upon performance, department need and funding.

The successful applicant will have a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and an M.S. or higher degree in
Chemical Engineering or a closely related field. A Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering is preferred. Extensive
relevant industrial experience in lieu of a Master’s degree may be considered. A proven record of
academic and/or industrial excellence and demonstrated skills to effectively execute the anticipated
responsibilities are highly desired.

The Chemical and Biological Engineering Department has a long-standing tradition of excellent process
oriented educational programs. In 2011, CBE moved into the $19MM Chemical and Biological
Engineering and Chemistry (CBEC) building which offers state of the art teaching facilities, research
laboratories and includes a new pilot scale unit operations laboratory. The department offers BS, MS
and PhD degrees, and currently is home to about 200 undergraduate and 35 graduate students and
post-doctoral researchers. CBE has a strong research enterprise with grant expenditures exceeding
