The Upper Peninsula Road Builders Family of Scholarships – MTU Scholarship

Deadline: May 3, 2019; 5pm

 

The Upper Peninsula Road Builders family of scholarships is comprised of the following three scholarships:

Upper Peninsula Road Builders Endowed Memorial Scholarship – This scholarship provides three to eleven $1000 scholarships per year to undergraduate civil engineering students who are in their 5th year of study. To be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

 Enrolled at Michigan Tech in the bachelor’s degree program for Civil Engineering

 Be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.

 Senior status with preference given to students who are in their 5th year of study (beyond 8 semesters of college education).

 Financial need is not a primary requirement but will be considered.

Joseph H. Meagher Memorial Scholarship – This scholarship provides a $1000 scholarship to undergraduate civil engineering students who are in their 5th year of study.

 Enrolled at Michigan Tech in the bachelor’s degree program for Civil Engineering

 Be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.

 Senior status with preference given to students who are in their 5th year of study (beyond 8 semesters of college education).

 Financial need is not a primary requirement but will be considered.

Richard C. Mertz Memorial Scholarship – This scholarship provides a $500 scholarship to undergraduate junior or senior student majoring in Surveying who is also a Michigan resident.

 Enrolled at Michigan Tech in the bachelor’s degree program for Survey Engineering

 Be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.

 Junior or Senior status.(a 3rd or 4th year student is eligible for the award)

 Financial need is not a primary requirement but will be considered.

 State of Michigan resident.

Michigan Tech students working as interns for Upper Peninsula Road Commissions are eligible for a $500 Intern Scholarship. Students must be recommended by their supervisor to be considered for this award.

UP Road Builders Scholarship Application 2019-2020


Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship

Deadline: March 12, 2019

Amount: 200 awards; $10,000 per student

Eligibility:

  • U.S. Citizens
  • Current high school seniors with a cumulative 3.5 or above GPA, or current college freshmen or sophomores with a cumulative 3.0 or above GPA.
  • Planning to enroll full-time at an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S.
  • Majoring or planning to major in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Math, Physics, Information Systems/Management Information Systems or Information Assurance.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Be willing to consider a paid internship with Lockheed Martin following freshman, sophomore or junior year of college, other circumstances notwithstanding. (Note: The internship is not required to receive a scholarship.)

The Alan Mulally Leadership in Engineering Scholarship – MTU Scholarship

The Ford Motor Company Fund has announced the Alan Mulally Leadership in Engineering Scholarship.  Alan Mulally is the former President and CEO of the Ford Motor Company.  To honor his outstanding service to Ford, the Company has established the Alan Mulally Leadership in Engineering Scholarship.

Deadline: March 15, 2019

Amount: One-time $10,000 

Eligibility: 

– Current Sophomore/Junior (Second and third year students)
– GPA: 3.5 or higher
– Majors related to Automotive Engineering (Preferred majors: Mechanical, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science)
– Leadership role in academic or community based- settings (ex. On campus organizations, community volunteer work, other engineering related activities)

– 1 recommendation letter from a faculty member (PDF to be attached to the Google Form application)
– 1 page essay (4000 characters including spaces) describing your interest in Automotive Engineering, leadership role(s) held, and why you feel you are the best candidate for this scholarship.
