The Margaret Dittman Memorial Education Grant was established by her husband, Mr. Gene Dittman, to assist past and present graduates of Ewen-Trout Creek High School of good character and in financial need to continue their education.   Mr. Dittman recognizes the rising cost of higher education has made it more difficult for individuals of modest means to advance and complete their education. Through his generosity, this grant will be offered biannually.

The Ewen-Trout Creek Community Education Committee will be accepting applications, for the 2018 Spring semester, for this unique grant opportunity. Only completed applications postmarked by the deadline date will be considered.  The grant is awarded for the 2018 Spring semester only.  You must be a full time student, 12 credits or more. The deadline for application submission is to be post marked by WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 3, 2018, or brought to the business office no later than 3 PM, on January 3rd.  The number of grant recipients and the award amount will be determined by the grant review committee.

Any further education you are seeking, a 2 year degree, a trade school degree, a 4 year degree or beyond, PLEASE APPLY.  Even though you have submitted an application in the past, you may have been a recipient, OR financial need/status has changed, PLEASE APPLY.

The names of the recipients of the grant will be released to local media for publication. The Committee will only notify the applicants selected for the grant award.

Galatians 6:10 Scholarship – Michigan Tech Scholarship

Michigan Tech is accepting letters of recommendation for the Galatians 6:10 Scholarship

The winner of this scholarship will receive four years of tuition at the Michigan resident tuition level. The criteria are simply that the incoming freshman be pursuing a degree in Engineering or the Sciences, that they submit a letter of interest to tell the donor more about themselves and their faith, and that they obtain a letter of support from a member of the Clergy who is willing to speak on their behalf.

Once the student applies and is accepted to Michigan Tech University, they simply send the two letters to the Student Financial Services Center at  Michigan Tech, 1400 Townsend Drive, Houghton, MI 49931 or email to

Award: Michigan resident tuition, renewable for four years

How to apply:

Write a 500-2000 word essay telling us the story of what your “media room of the future” looks like.

Things to consider might include:

  • What gear is in the room?
    (This can be anything – including things not yet invented.)
  • What does it feel like to be in the room?
  • Can you physically interact with the media playing?
  • Obviously 8-tracks and records and even DVDs are becoming obsolete, so in the future, how does the media get stored and delivered?

CatLitterHelp-scholarship’s yearly Search for A Scholar is back again this year to give away a scholarship fund of $1,500 to one deserving student.

The application is free. Are you interested? Check if you meet these requirements:

If you have ticked off the two items above, listed below are the steps you have to follow:

  1. Read up on cat allergies and write about its symptoms, how it affects pet owners, and the ways on how to cope with it. The written output must be at least 500 words.

Think Ahead Scholarship

Carved Lake Art is offering a Think Ahead Scholarship to encourage students to start thinking about the future of lakes and seas, as well as the living creatures in them.

Application: 1,000 word essay on “Preserving Aquatic Ecosystems”. Give a background on the current state of freshwater and marine life, and discuss what people can do to maintain or improve the current condition of aquatic ecosystems.
