Two Confirmed COVID-19 Cases

by MTU Flex Task Force

Late last week, two members of the Michigan Tech campus community (defined as faculty, staff, and students) tested positive for COVID-19. The two cases appear to be unrelated.

The Western Upper Peninsula Health Department is actively conducting contact tracing to stop the spread of the virus. Anyone who had close contact with the infected persons will be notified and will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days.

To protect the individuals’ privacy, Michigan Tech will release no further details regarding their identity.

In the future, Michigan Tech will communicate confirmed COVID-19 cases through the COVID-19 Testing Statistics web page. This web page, located on the MTU Flex website, will be updated every Tuesday and Friday at 6 a.m.

Employees and students who have received a COVID-19 test, regardless of the results, are asked to inform the University via the new Report a COVID-19 Test Form, recently added to the MTU Flex Portal

Thank you for your cooperation in helping to protect the health and safety of our campus community.
