COVID-19 High Risk Accommodations are reasonable modifications or adjustments to a job or work environment intended for MTU employees (including student workers). To qualify as high risk, employees should either belong to at-risk populations identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), or have an at-risk person in their immediate household.
Institutional Equity and the ADA Coordinator are evaluating all accommodation requests to determine if the employee meets the high risk criteria. If you don’t qualify as high risk, talk to your supervisor. With supervisor approval, accommodations may be approved for other reasons related to COVID-19, as long as the accommodations are reasonable.
A reasonable accommodation won’t cause significant difficulty or expense to Michigan Tech, and won’t fundamentally alter the nature of your job. If the proposed accommodation does either of these things, it may be denied. And if you’re having problems keeping up with your workload with the accommodation in place, it may be reevaluated.
How To Request a COVID-19 Accommodation
- Work-related Accommodations for MTU Employees and Student Workers: Before filling out any forms, send an email to the ADA Coordinator at adacoordinator@mtu.edu requesting a COVID-19 Accommodation. Tell them if you qualify as high risk. The ADA Coordinator will send you a link to the form you need to fill out. This is the only way to access the COVID-19 Accommodation Request Form.
- Academic-related Accommodations for MTU Students: Students who would like to request an academic accommodation for reasons related to COVID-19 should contact Student Disability Services at sds@mtu.edu.
