Michigan Tech Archives Reading Room Reopening by Appointment

Beginning Monday (July 27), the Michigan Tech Archives reading room will reopen to patrons on an appointment basis. Appointments may be requested through this form available on the library website, by emailing copper@mtu.edu, or by calling 7-2505. Please note that all appointments must be confirmed by an archives staff member via telephone or email at least 24 hours prior to the requested appointment time. Any appointment requests for Mondays must be confirmed by the close of business on the preceding Friday.


SDC Opening to Current Students Today

Michigan Tech’s Student Development Complex (SDC) has reopened to current students as of today (July 13). A team from Recreation has developed a reopening plan to ensure the building is utilized safely and is implementing an enhanced cleaning schedule based on guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and recreation facility standards.


Fall Career Fair Will Be Virtual

Like many areas of campus, Career Services fall events are going to look a little different this year. Due to social distancing on campus, travel restrictions at many recruiting organizations, and the health and safety of our campus community, Career Services will host our fall career fair virtually.

The virtual fair will be held on the platform Career Fair Plus; the same career fair app students have been using for the past 5 years. Career Fair Plus allows students to schedule times to meet with recruiters causing less disruption to their course schedule.


OAP Equipment Rentals Opening Today

by Outdoor Adventure Program

Equipment rentals through Michigan Tech’s Outdoor Adventure Program will be available beginning today (June 19) on a limited basis. Equipment can be rented from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday-Friday inside the wax building at the trailhead across from Kearly Stadium. Bikes, canoes, kayaks and inflatable stand-up paddleboards are available at this time.


Library Curbside Pickup Service Now Available

Effective immediately, the Van Pelt and Opie Library will offer curbside pickup of library and Interlibrary Loan books for faculty, staff, students, and Library Courtesy Card holders. Requests received before 2 p.m. will be available for pickup until 5 p.m. the same day.

Pickup times are 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, in the circle drive next to the library. Library staff will bring the bagged library materials to patrons curbside. Patrons do not need to leave their vehicles. A valid HuskyCard or Library Courtesy Card must be shown.


Information Technology and Campus Step Two

As our campus transitions to Step Two, most of the Information Technology staff will continue to provide support and service from home.  We will have a limited number of staff and student employees on campus every day, focusing first on the backlog of on-site physical work from March. New physical on-site work may take additional time to complete.

Because on-campus activity continues to be limited this summer, custodial services have been redistributed. Campus buildings are serviced on a rotating schedule using a team staffing approach. Custodial staff prioritizes public areas and open restrooms when they are in your building. They will not clean or check departmental areas and individual offices.

As more employees return to campus in Step Two of our reopening plan, we need you to do your part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure campus operations continue safely and efficiently.
