Early Property Drop Off and Storage Agreement
Residence Education and Housing Services-Fall 2020

In an effort to reduce move-in congestion, Residence Education and Housing Services is offering students a single opportunity to drop their property off in advance of when they move in for Fall.  This optional courtesy allows you to set up your room prior to the start of the year.  Here is the process:

Complete an Early Property Drop Off Request and select a day/time that works best for you.
You must complete the request at least 72 hours prior to your arrival.
You are only able to sign up once.  Multiple drop offs cannot be honored.
You can select a drop off between July 31-August 9 from 9am-5pm.
Housing will send a confirmation email verifying the day/time you selected and provide procedures on how you and up to two guests can properly move in.
On the day of your drop off, prior to coming to campus, you and your guests will be required to complete the Daily Symptom Monitoring forms for students and visitors:
You and your guests will be required to complete the Daily Symptom Tracker ( site goes live July 27) on the day you are to travel to campus.  According to the CDC, people with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness.  People with the symptoms listed below may have COVID-19. If you or your guests have experienced the symptoms listed below for a reason not attributable to a known condition other than COVID-19, then please do not come to campus and contact housing@mtu.edu to reschedule your drop off:
Fever (100.4 F or higher) or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
You will report to your residence hall front desk on the day/time assigned and be given access to your room (no keys will be given).
You will check in with a staff member when you arrive and out with a staff member when you leave (no later than 5pm).
You and up to two guests can enter the building. You will be required to wear face coverings & adhere to the social distancing guidelines while in the residence halls.
You must keep all devices unplugged until you move in later in August.
When you return to move in, check in to get your key, and you’re done!
This is a courtesy being offered to students and their families who are in need of additional flexibility to move into the residence halls for Fall semester.  There is no cost for you to participate, however you must agree that you are storing your belongings at your own risk and Michigan Tech takes no responsibility for the property you leave in the room. You understand that no service is offered beyond a locked residence hall room.  The residence halls continue to be closed and room doors will be locked once a student leaves.  This is not a request for an early arrival to live in the residence halls prior to Friday, August 21.

TERMINATION OF HOUSING:  Should you or the University terminate your housing contract after you drop your property in the residence halls, you will be required to remove all property within 48 hours of your contract cancellation.  Housing reserves the right to remove property from a room that is no longer contracted to a student.

ROOMS INELIGIBLE FOR EARLY PROPERTY DROP OFF:  While we have done everything we can to make this process available to everyone, unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts the following rooms are unavailable for early property drop off:
Wadsworth Hall 400E-428E and 451E-463E

Early Property Drop Off Agreement
By submitting my Early Property Drop Off request, I understand and agree to the following:

I am eligible to participate.  TO BE ELIGIBLE, I MUST:
♦ Be a registered student assigned to a residence hall space
♦ Complete the visitor and student symptom tracker on the day I plan to arrive.
♦ Ensure at the time of my arrival my guests and I have not been diagnosed with Covid-19 AND ensure that my guests and I do not have two or more of the following related symptoms:  have a temperature of 100.4F or higher, have unusual coughing, have unusual trouble breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and new loss of taste or smell.
I will work in good faith and do my part to reduce traffic on Move In day by moving the majority of property during the drop off so on my assigned move in day I am picking up my keys only.
I am permitted to drop off my property one time on the day and time Housing has approved and communicated to me. I cannot return for additional early drop offs.
I am offered early property drop off as a courtesy and not paying for any services associated with this request.
I will adhere to all safety policies and procedures.  I will wear the necessary face coverings at all times and will practice social distancing of six feet to the extent possible between individuals while dropping off property in the residence halls.
I will ensure that any guests assisting me also adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including wearing a face covering and practicing social distancing of six feet.
I am storing my property at my own risk and take full responsibility for everything I leave in my room.
I will not plug any property into electrical outlets and will keep windows closed.
I will not live in the residence halls until my approved move in date and this request is for storing my property only.
I am understanding by applying for Early Property Drop Off, I am accepting of the terms above and understand that Michigan Tech is only offering the service of a locked residence hall room door as a courtesy. Michigan Tech assumes no liability for property left in the room.  I understand my roommate may also participate in this process and will have the same access to the property in the room as I do.  I understand that Residence Education/Housing Services staff as part of their standard preparations for opening will enter my room to complete routine room condition documents.  Lastly, if I terminate my housing contract anytime after I drop off my property, I will remove my property from the room within 48 hours of my contract cancellation.  I agree that if I do not do so the Housing staff has the right to remove my property from the room.

If you are agreeing to these terms, you can proceed to the application links below.  Please note that links are different for new and returning students.
