Furniture Donation to Habitat for Humanity

If you plan to move out from Daniell Heights on June 30 and have
gently used furniture that you can’t take with you when you move,
please consider donating them to Habitat for Humanity, a non profit
organization that builds homes for local families in need. We will
have a donation station and a truck set up at both upper and lower
Daniel heights where you can bring your gently used items easily.

We Will Accept Furniture in Good Condition:

  • Chairs
  • Desks
  • Tables
  • Shelves
  • Couches or futons
  • Small household items

We Will Not Accept:

  • Mattresses or box springs
  • Clothes or shoes
  • University owned furniture that came with the apartment (University
    owned chairs, desks, tables, couches, beds, etc.)

The truck will be parked at upper Daniel Heights near the mailboxes
Thursday June 20 and Thursday June 27 from 10 am -3 pm.

The truck will be at lower Daniel Heights near the mailboxes Friday
June 21 and Friday June 28 from 10 am -3 pm.

Residence Halls Close May 4 at noon

The end of the Spring 2019 semester will be here soon.  You can read all of the important end of semester details for residence hall students online.
Residence hall students should plan to move out by noon on Saturday, May 4.  If you will need an extra day to move out, you can request a late departure online.  There is a fee of $20 per person per day to leave late.  This fee will be waived for graduating seniors who live in the residence halls who need to leave on May 5, but the online late departure form must be completed in advance.
Residence hall doors will lock on Saturday, May 4 at noon for the end of the Spring 2019 semester.
Please visit with your RA if you have additional questions about end of semester procedures.  If you need additional help, stop in to Housing (153 Wadsworth Hall) Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Do you need assistance?

Housing and Residential Life, 153 Wadsworth Hall, is open Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm to help you.  You can visit us in person, call 906-487-2682, or email housing@mtu.edu for assistance.
If you need urgent assistance after the office closes, students in the residence halls can talk to their RA.  All on campus residents can call the DUTY phone: 906-487-3889.
If you need a minor repair that can wait until the next business day, you can email FixItHousing@mtu.edu .

Parking Lot Snow Removal (Lot 4 and Lot 17)

All students parked in Lot 4 (Hillside) and Lot 17 (Wadsworth) will need to move their vehicles on Thursday, February 14 between 8am and midnight.  Vehicles should be moved to Lot 24.  After the snow is removed on Friday, February 15, Transportation Services will email students so cars can be returned.  All cars must be moved back to assigned lots and out of Lot 24 by Friday, February 15 at 8pm.

New Roommates Coming for Spring

Are you losing your Fall residence hall roommate?  Will they be graduating, transferring, leaving for coop or internship, study abroad, etc.?  New spring roommates are being assigned now.  Please keep the empty space in your room clean and clear before you go home for winter break.  Your Fall housing details appear now on your MyMichiganTech account on your Housing tab.  After the Fall semester ends and grades are posted, Fall details will come down and Spring details will appear.  This will include the name of the new roommate.  This typically happens on your MyMichiganTech account in the first week of January.

Quiet hours begin Friday, December 14 at midnight and will remain in effect through finals week until noon on December 21.  This is for one week to help students study during finals week.

Residence halls officially close at noon on Saturday, December 22.  All residence hall students are permitted to return to the residence halls on Thursday, January 10 at 9am.

The last dining hall meal of Fall is served on December 21.  Dining services begins meal service on Sunday, January 13.

Mail and packages will not be delivered at the reception desks during the break.  Staff will be gone.  The reception desks will reopen Saturday, January 12.

Monday, January 14 is the first day of class and the first day of residence hall contract renewal online. (January 21 is a holiday.)

Residence hall students who need to depart late after noon on December 22, stay the whole break, or return early before January 10 at 9am need to complete the online early arrival late departure form found online:

Residence Halls Open Saturday, August 25

Residence Halls open!
Saturday, August 25 at 9am all residence halls will open.  New students will check in directly at the Rozsa with the Orientation Team.  Returning students will check in at the reception desk for their building.  Returning students in Douglass Houghton Hall will go to the Douglass Houghton Hall reception desk.  McNair Hall and Hillside Place returning students will go to the McNair Hall reception desk.  Shared houses, Daniell Heights, and Wadsworth Hall students will go to the Wadsworth Hall reception desk.


Do you Need Assistance?

Do you see something that needs to be repaired?  You do not need to wait for the office to be open to report the issue.  If you need a repair, send an email to FixItHousing@mtu.edu .   Attaching pictures of the problem is very helpful.  Requests are processed during normal business hours, Monday through Friday.
Not sure what to do?  Come visit us in Housing, 153 Wadsworth Hall, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.
Do you have an urgent problem that cannot wait?  You can call the DUTY phone 24 hours per day, 7 days per week for urgent problems that cannot wait.  Water flowing that will not stop, no heat, no electricity, no water are urgent issues.  Please call :906-487-3889 for urgent assistance.
Your RA is available to help you.  Can’t find your RA?  Any RA can help you.  Not sure what to do?  Talk to any RA in your building for help.

Housing Summer Hours

Do you have housing questions?  Housing is open during the summer from 8am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.  You can call us at 906-487-2682, visit us at 153 Wadsworth Hall, or email housing@mtu.edu for assistance.  Calls and email received after normal business hours will be responded to on the next business day.
If you have an urgent problem (NO heat, NO water, NO electricity) that cannot wait for the next business day, please call the 24 hour DUTY phone: 906-487-3889.  Students living in the residence halls are also encouraged to visit with the student staff members who live in the residence halls with them.  Your RA is a great resource for all types of assistance!
