2011 NCAA Regional Champion and National Runner-Up

The College of Sciences and Arts is especially proud of the women’s basketball team that made a great run to it’s first NCAA Division II national championship game in late March.

Ten of the 16 members of the team are pursuing majors in the College:

Michelle Gaedke, Biological Sciences
Sam Hoyt, Mathematics, secondary education
Taylor Stipple, Liberal Arts
Emma Veach, Psychology

Six of them are enrolled in the Department of Exercise Science, Health and Physical Education, pursuing some of the newest degrees in the College:

Paige Albi
Kate Glodowski
Angela Guisfredi
Krista Kasuboski
Heather Kessler
Jessica Racine

Assistant coach, Sarah Stream, continues her education in exercise science as well, continuing to work on her master’s degree.

All of these talented women personify the concept of student/athlete, performing as well in their studies as they do on the court. Angela Guisfredi won the Elite 88 Award for Division II women’s basketball, given to the student with highest grade point participating in the championship tournament. Tech owns this award, since the inaugural winner was Sarah Stream in 2010!
