Make a Difference Day is a day to give back to your community by helping your neighbors. Everyone can participate. Michigan Tech students have been participating for many years, come join this celebration of neighbors.
Make a Difference Day, created by USA WEEKEND magazine, is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October. In 2011, over 25 alumni across four different chapters throughout the nation joined over 450 (on campus) students in the most encompassing national day of helping others. Volunteer opportunities are organized by Chapter Leaders working with local non-profit charities and groups. Activities ranged from volunteering at an animal rescue shelter, cleaning local beaches, to supporting Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore.
This year it’s time for students to participate in our own communities. If you would like to volunteer, please select an event and register on the Make a Difference Day website (http://apps.alumni.mtu.edu/make-a-difference-day/2012/).
Most events are expected to last for a couple hours in the morning. All ages and family members are encouraged to participate.
This year Make a Difference Day is on October 27, volunteer to do something for your community, it is time to give back to the community.
