Rail Transportation Program Hosting Railroad Night Feb. 18

The Rail Transportation Program (RTP) and the Rail Engineering and Activities Club (REAC) are hosting the Ninth Annual Railroad Night on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the Franklin Square Inn, Magnuson Hotel. Railroad Night, scheduled from 7 to 9:30 p.m., has been a highlight of the year for RTP and REAC, and the event has drawn a full house year after year of industry representatives, students, and Michigan Tech faculty, staff and administration.

Railroad Night offers a relaxed dine-with-industry setting for attendees and includes hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, raffle, student research project exhibits and a keynote speaker. This year’s keynote speaker is one of the most influential leaders of the rail industry, Lisa Stabler, president of the Transportation Technology Center, Pueblo, Colo.

The event is sponsored by the RTP industry partners, CN, Union Pacific Railroad and Norfolk Southern. To date, a total of 14 rail industry companies–including most of the largest freight railroads–have registered to participate. In addition to our industry partners, attendees include Nordco Inc., Via Rail Logistics, Benesch, BNSF, Stantec Consulting, CSX, New York Air Brake, TKDA, Engineered Rail Solutions, Loram Maintenance of Way and Aecom.

The event has grown over the years and also includes related Rail Day events for industry that run in conjunction with Michigan Tech’s Career Fair. The day includes poster sessions, presentations, discussions and other activities for the RTP, industry and students.

There is no cost for University faculty, staff and administration to participate but we do ask that you please confirm your attendance by filling out the short registration form at the Tech Shop.
