Join a group of your peers and experience a new community during spring break! Spots are still available for this spring’s Alternative Spring Break trips, which are planned and led by Student Leadership and Involvement staff. There is a fee for participating in an Alternative Spring Break trip includes transportation throughout the trip, lodging on-site, meals on-site, and service project coordination. The costs are subsidized by the Student Activity Fee.
This year’s domestic Alternative Spring Break trip will travel to St. Joe, Florida. It will focus on hurricane repair and shoreline cleanup. The group will work with several local parks, including T.H. Stone Memorial at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park and the Rish Recreation Area. This cost is $400.
In collaboration with Community Collaborations International, this year’s overseas Alternative Spring Break trip will travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico, to work with community organizers on activities including home repair, forest recovery, and youth development. The cost is $1,200.
Applications for the 2024 Alternative Spring Break trips are now open and will close when all spots are filled. Students are encouraged to apply by January 22, 2024. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and spots could be filled before the deadline.
