STEM Fair Judge Volunteer Opportunity

Michigan Tech graduate students are invited to volunteer for the Western Upper Peninsula STEM Fair and Festival, which will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024, in the Memorial Union Ballroom.

The STEM Fair and Festival is a valuable learning experience for students in grades 4-8. Students submit projects on either a traditional science investigation or an Invention Convention (engineering design) that they conducted. They are judged on the content of their written report, the presentation of their findings on a display board, and the verbal communication of what they learned during an interview. Two judges will score each project and the project will receive a composite score from the two judges.

Approximately 30 volunteers are needed to judge the students’ projects. Please consider serving as a judge for the Western UP STEM Fair. The contribution of your valuable time and expertise would be greatly appreciated.

Your time commitment for Saturday, March 16, 2024 would be from 2:00 – 3:45pm

2:00 – 2:30 pm: Judges’ meeting for calibrating standards
2:30 – 3:45 pm: Judging of projects

The STEM fair is open to the public from 1:30-2:30 pm and there is an accompanying STEM festival (hands-on STEM activities) occurring in the MUB common area from 1:00 – 4:00 pm.

If you would like to serve as a judge, please complete the form linked below or contact Emily Geiger at (906) 482-4250 x188 or egeiger@copperisd.org.
