RELAY FOR LIFE EVENT:  The Relay for Life event is beginning this evening at 7:00 pm in the SDC Multipurpose Room and continues until 7:00 a.m. Saturday.  This year’s them is the 80’s!!  Dress 80’s style if you wish!  The event is free and you can come and go as you please.  Food will be provided at 8:00 p.m., 12:00 a.m., and 6:00 a.m.  There will be a cancer survivor speaker at 7:30 p.m.  The Luminaria ceremony is at 11:00 p.m., and the fight back ceremony at 6:30 a.m.  Brochures will be handed out at the door with a full list of events and activities for the night.  Lots of prizes will be given away!  Join us for COD, Halo and other video games (XBOX, WII, etc.), board and card games, rock climbing until 11:00 p.m., free-throw competition, jeopardy, family feud and a scavenger hunt just to name a few of the games and activities that will be happening.  For any questions, contact Stephen Schweitzer at skschwei@mtu.edu.  We hope to see you there!

DISASTER RELIEF FUNDRAISER:  The Japanese Conversation Club at Michigan Tech is planning a fundraising 5k run and 3k walk event for Japan on Saturday, April 16th.  Registration will be today at Spring Fling until 5:00 p.m., and 8:30 -9:45 a.m. tomorrow at the Rozsa Center.  Race time is 10:00 a.m. starting at the Rozsa Center parking lot.   For more information and the registration form, go to http://www.superioritystudios.com/temp/index.html.  All proceeds to to the American Red Cross Japan relief effort.

FILM BOARD:  The Film Board is showing The Green Hornet this weekend in Fisher 135.  Shows will be on Friday and Saturday at 6:00, 8:30, & 11:00 pm. STUDENT ORGANIZATION OFFICE SPACE:  If you are a returning student organization and wish to retain your office space in the MUB for the 2011-2012 academic year, you are required to fill out an application.  Applications can be picked up at the Memorial Union Board desk in MUB 106.  If you have any questions, contact Trevor Gibson at ttgibson@mtu.edu.

LATIN AMERICAN EVENT:  Join us for a fun and relaxing evening at another great Latin American event!  On Friday, April 22 we will have a “beach party” from 8:00 pm to midnight in the MUB Ballroom A with free salsa lessons and three hours of open floor with salsa, merengue, bachata and much more!  No partner needed; family friendly; all levels welcome; and it’s free!  Beach apparel highly recommended!  This event is organized by NOSOTROS, the Latin Student Organization at Michigan Tech, and supported by the Parents’ Fund of the Michigan Tech Fund.  For more information, contact Alessia Uboni, at auboni@mtu.edu.

BIBLE CONFERENCE:  The Lighthouse Student Ministries will be hosting a conference entitled “Bible Prophecy:  Tomorrow’s News Today”  beginning this weekend.  Each seminar will be approximately 1 hour long and will examine prophetic events in the book of Revelation and discuss the hope of the church.  Seminars will take place Saturday through Wednesday at 7pm (except on Sunday; the seminars will be at 10am &4pm).  The seminars will be in the Michigan Tech Forestry Center Room G002.  Please call 487-2287 or e-mail bwcolber@mtu.edu for further information.

GREAT LAKES SHOWCASE AWARD WINNERS:  The award winners for the 2011 Great Lakes Showcase have been selected! The Great Lakes Showcase exhibition continues through April 29, 2011 at the Michigan Technological University’s Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts.  The exhibition is free and open to the public from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm weekdays in the Rozsa Art Gallery.  Juror Diana Magnuson has selected the award winners as follows:
