Live music and Pizza @ the Orpheum

Come enjoy live music at the Orpheum Saturday, January 19!  Doors open at 7:00 PM and admission is only $5.00. The event is organized by the Pavlis Institute at Michigan Tech.
By attending you’ll not only enjoy great music by local musicians, but you will help support projects like a mobile clinic going to Ghana and bringing Mind Trekkers international.
Enjoy music by “Don’t Feed the Bears,” Eryka Vye and Marshall, and Lucas Westcott and Heaven Hawkins along with a silent auction featuring items from India and Ghana.  Come enjoy some great music, delicious pizza, and help Pavlis change the world while representing Michigan Tech and the Houghton / Hancock area.

Looking for Outdoor Activities?

The Michigan Tech Athletics and Recreation Department and the Michigan Tech Outdoor Adventure Program have joined forces to improve user experiences at the University’s trail system. A ticket booth at the trails will be staffed during weekends to allow users to purchase passes and rent equipment on site.

The booth will be located at the main trail head near the waxing shed and open Fridays 5:00 to 8:00 PM, and Saturdays and Sundays 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Daily and annual trail passes along with ski and snowshoe rentals will be available at the booth. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted.

Thursday, January 24th, Study Session in fisher room’s 131 and 132 at 8PM

Friday, January 25th, Dog walking at the Humane Society at 5PM

Saturday, January 26th, Basketball in the SDC wood gym at 11AM

Sunday, January 27th, Jiu-Jitsu in the SDC dance room at 2PM

Rides will be given to these events.

Join the Parade of Nations Committee

Would you like to serve on the Parade of Nations Committee?  The Parade of Nations is held the third weekend each September.  The Parade begins in Hancock and ends at the Dee Stadium in Houghton where the multicultural festival takes place.  As a committee member, you would be required to attend monthly meetings year round and may be asked to serve on a sub committee, help with social media or bring your creative ideas to the table.  This volunteer position is a good opportunity to make contacts and enhance your resume.  If interested, contact Darnishia Slade in International Programs and Services at dslade@mtu.edu.

All students are invited to the 2013 Spring Involvement Fair, “Balloon Your Involvement” on Tuesday, January 22 from 4PM – 6PM in the Memorial Union Building Commons area.  Join Student Activities and nearly 60 student organizations on campus and see how you can get involved in campus life!  Organizations including Greeks, service, communications, honors, academic, club sports, awareness, music, faith-based, cultural, programming and enterprises – there’s something for everyone!  Music will be provided by Sound & Lighting Services and Jazzerz.  Cake and hot chocolate will be served.  This event is courtesy of Student Activities and is at no cost to you!
