Khana Khazana Serving Middle Eastern Cuisine
Khana Khazana, a weekly international lunch will feature Middle Eastern Cuisine this Friday, April 24 cooked by Zainab Alshoug, student of Chemical Engineering department at Michigan Tech. The main dish is Chicken Seekh Kebab with Mutabbal and Hummus. It is a terrific appetizer made of minced chicken mixed with onions and spices. Hummus is a spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and garlic. Mutabbal is made of cooked eggplant mixed with onions, tomatoes, olive oil and various seasonings. The second dish is Tabbouleh Salad. It is a traditional salad made of tomatoes, finely chopped parsley, mint, bulgur and onion, and seasoned with olive oil, lemon juice, and salt. The final dish to end your meal is Warbat, a cream-filled pastry made of phyllo dough soaked in sugar syrup and garnished with nuts.
Serving from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm in the MUB Food Court. The whole meal is $6.95 and includes a fountain soda. Please join us to support our international cooks and enjoy a great meal!
Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra Presents, Suites!, at the Rozsa
The Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra takes their show on the road! The KSO concludes a five-city tour with a concert titled “Suites!’” at the Rozsa Center on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 7:30 PM.
SWS Concert “In the Throes of Radios” Presents a New Work by Composer Elizabeth Meyer
This Friday, April 24, 2015, at 7:30 PM, Michigan Technological University’s Superior Wind Symphony, under the direction of Mike Christianson, presents their final concert of the 2014-15 Season in the McArdle Theatre titled “In the Throes of Radios.”
SPIE/OSA Hosting Fluorescent Night
SPIE/OSA will be hosting a Fluorescent Night on Monday April 27 from 2-4:00 PM in EERC 122 next to the EE Learning Center. There will be photonic demos and FREE Monster Energy Drinks! Film Board Showing Kingsman: The Secret Service
This weekend, Film Board will be showing Kingsman: The Secret Service
in Fisher 135, as their final film for the year.

Tickets are $3. Candy, popcorn, and soda are all $1 each.
This is the last movie of the spring semester, they will be back in the Fall.
Whitewater Rafting Adventure on the Peshtigo River
On Thursday, April 30 you have the chance to go for an all day whitewater rafting adventure on the Peshtigo River in Peshtigo,WI. The trip costs $75 and includes transportation, paddling gear, and a wet suit. The vans leave at 8:00 AM from the Outdoor Adventure and Wellness Center and return at 8:00 PM. MUB Board Hosting Lazer Tag

Exams getting you down? Do you like Star Wars or Call of Duty? Are you looking for a fun, different way to fight boredom and tiredness from studying all week? MUB Board will be hosting free Lazer tag in the SDC Wood Gym on April 25th from 7:00 – 10:00 PM. Twenty players will play every 20 minutes. Technology Day Sponsored by Staff Council
Technology Day, sponsored by Staff Council, provides opportunities for staff to improve their technical skills and knowledge through technology training sessions. The sessions are led by Michigan Tech staff and provide development in a learning-centered peer-to-peer environment. This year we are excited to bring you 4 exciting sessions:
Photography Basics – Do you want to take a good portrait and you don’t know how? Do you have research photos you want to take but can’t seem to get the right angle? Are your group photos not turning out how you would like? University Photographer Sarah Bird will go over some basic camera settings, shooting angles, and locations to make your departmental photos look better than ever. We will be going over examples of do’s and don’ts, and then entering into a time of practice shooting. If you have a point and shoot, a DSLR, or a mirror-less camera feel free to bring it to the course. This course will be held at 9-9:50am and 1-1:50pm.
IT 101: Technological Tools for Productivity – Join us for an introduction to the vast array of technological tools available to staff which include software downloads, VPN, remote network drive access, printing and more. This class will be held at 9-9:50am and 2-2:50pm.
Online Security – Protecting your Identity – In this session we will be covering a variety of methods to protect your online identity. We will cover passwords, passwords managers, and how to increase your protection by using two-factor authentication. We will also take a look at common schemes used to steal your identity and offer suggestions on how to identify and avoid them. Finally, we will look at resources to monitor and alert to activity affecting your credit. This class will be held at 10-10:50am and 1-1:50pm.
The Library – Resources & More – Michigan Tech staff have full access to all of the library’s resources and services. Join us to learn about the many technology tools available in the library, as well as library research tutorials online, some basic search tips and tricks for finding what you need online, and much more! This class will be held at 10-10:50am and 2-2:50pm. Technology Day will be held on Wednesday May 6, 2015. Please go to this link to register by April 29, 2015.
Help Drive Away Hunger in our Community
For every food item donated, you will receive a raffle ticket to be filled out with your MI Tech User ID. These raffle tickets will be placed into a drawing for a free parking permit for the upcoming year. Faculty/Staff and Black Lot parking permits, as well as a Michigan Tech gift basket will be given away. Receive a raffle ticket for each item you donate (Black lot raffle tickets require 2 donated food items). The more you donate the more chances you have to WIN. Needed Foods Include Soup, Chili, Beans, Rice, Canned Vegetables, Tuna, Canned Meat, Cereal, Peanut Butter, and Granola Bars.
Drop off your non-perishable food items Monday thru Friday from 8:00am – 5:00pm at Transportation Services in Room 100 of the Administration Building and collect your raffle tickets. Drawing will be held Monday, May 4. Winners will be notified via e-mail and announced in Tech Today.
All food collected will stay within our local community.
