Sunset Cruise #2 Sign Up and Summer Snack
Come over to the Outdoor Adventure and Wellness Programs house (207 East St. Across the highway from the MTU Library) on Thursday, July 23 from 1:00-3:00 PM for the second sunset cruise sign up. This sunset cruise is to be held on August 7 in Copper Harbor. The cost is $5.00 with your student ID.
There will also be a summer snack of avocado potato salad as well as raspberry sorbet served during this time.
This event is sponsored by Student Activities, Housing and Residential Life, and Dining Services.

New this year, the Rozsa has convenient, handy, “pocket calendars” – Great for your desk, at work or home, take with you or keep by the phone! Features the big event each month. Available around town or at the Rozsa this week, then look for your full-size Rozsa calendar, coming the last week of August.

Lake Superior Day in Copper Harbor
The beauty and bounty of Lake Superior will be celebrated Sunday, July 26 at the Third Annual Lake Superior Day in Copper Harbor. Community volunteers, along with the Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative, are organizing the festival with lots of special activities at the 6th Street Dock along the Copper Harbor Boardwalk.
Activities include:
Community picnic ($5 donation suggested)
Canoe races and kayak demonstrations
Interactive art (paint the model freighter)
Remotely-Operated-Vehicle demonstrations by Tech’s Great Lakes Research Center
Presentation on the health of Lake Superior by Great Lakes scientist Martin Auer (CEE)
Live music, poetry and more!
From 1-4 PM a special highlight is the opportunity for festival attendees to find out how scientists study the Great Lakes by taking a 40-minute scientific excursion aboard Michigan Tech’s research vessel, Agassiz. The excursions are part of the Ride the Waves Program funded by a grant from General Motors. The Agassiz will depart every 45 minutes from the Isle Royale Queen dock beginning at 1 p.m. Participants must be at least seven years old, and children must be accompanied by an adult. All participants should wear closed-toe shoes. Space is limited and those interested may pre-register by calling 7-3341 or email Lloyd Wescoat at lwescoat@mtu.edu. Lake Superior Day is celebrated throughout the Lake Superior basin on or close to the third Sunday in July in many communities around Lake Superior. Keweenaw Alumni and Friends Chapter 5K Walk/Run for Scholarships
Friday July 24 is the last day to register for the Keweenaw Alumni and Friends Chapter 5K Walk/Run for scholarships. The event will be held Saturday, August 8 on the Michigan Tech Trails. Registration begins at 7:30 AM with the walk to start at 8:30 AM and the run beginning at 9 AM. Awards will be handed out at 10 AM.
Cost is $15 for those with a Tech Trail pass, $20 for those who need a pass (includes a discounted $5 day pass). T-shirts are included with advanced registration!
