Italian Food at Khana Khazana

Tastes of Italy are on tap at today’s Khana Khazana. Serving will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the food trailer in the MUB Circle across from the Library.

The menu includes:

  • Pasta with Chicken—chicken breast with mushroom, cheese and Alfredo sauce served over pasta
  • Veggie Pasta—fried mixture of green bean, carrot and mushroom with Alfredo Sauce taste.
  • Eggplant Gratin—baked side dish of eggplant, bell pepper, onion, tomato, basil and cheese
  • Panna Cotta—traditional Italian custard with milk, cream, coffee and vanilla.

Cost is $6.95 for the full meal.

Student Activities and Wellness Programs are teaming up and bringing you unique event: Chalking Competition, “What you are grateful for.” You don’t have to be Picasso, you just need to want to have some fun with sidewalk chalk and let your creativity flow. We will be gathering at the Husky statue on July 21 at 1:00 PM. You will have 1 hour and 15 minutes to create your artwork and then the judges will determine the work of art that most represents the subject, “What are you grateful for.” The winner will receive a Prize!

  • No profanity or inappropriate content
  • You can chalk as an individual or you can team up but you must be a student to win the prize
  • Chalk will be provided
  • You can finish at anytime within the hour and fifteen minute time frame (1:15-2:30)
  • Chalking will end at 2:30 so that the judges have enough time to review, ask questions, and hand out the prize.

This event is meant to inspire community and well being within ourselves and as a shared concept for others. Spectators are much encouraged but please be respectful and encouraging to all participants.

The rain date for this event will be July 28, 1:00 PM, at the Husky statue.


Sunset-Cruise

Sunset Cruise #2 Sign Up

Sign-up for the second Sunset Cruise on Thursday, August 4 will take place during the chalking competition on Thursday, July 21. We will start taking sign-ups once the chalking competition is underway around 1:15.

The cost is $5.00 per person with your student ID. students may purchase tickets for their spouse and children as well.

CDI to Host Dialogue on Realities of Violence

In light of the tragic killings of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Philando Castile in Falcon Heights, Minnesota and the five Police Officers-Brent Thompson, Senior Cpl. Lorne Ahrens, Sgt. Michael Smith, Michael Krol and Patrick Zamarripa, who were killed in Dallas last week, Michigan Tech’s Center for Diversity and Inclusion invites the community to engage in a meaningful dialogue about the realities of violence plaguing the nation.

The event will be held from noon to 1 p.m. today (July 15) in the Hamar House.

K-Day 2016 Application Now Available

K-Day, short for Keweenaw Day, is an annual tradition at Michigan Tech held on the Friday of the week of Labor Day. Each year on K-Day, classes release at noon so our students can celebrate their beautiful surroundings in the Keweenaw Peninsula and learn about ways to get involved and connected at Tech.
