“The Greatest Movie and Video Game Music”
The Rozsa Center welcomes the Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra (KSO) in a special Winter Carnival matinee concert titled “The Greatest Movie and Video Game Music,” on Saturday, February 11, at 2:00 PM.
Join International Programs and Services to learn about our study abroad programs in Japan!
Topics include academics, housing, scholarships, and application process.
The session takes place on February 13th, 6:00 – 7:00 in MUB Ballroom B3.
The Michigan Tech Bookstore and University Images have Winter Carnival Apparel
The 2017 Michigan Tech Winter Carnival is here and there are only three locations to get your official Winter Carnival gear: the Michigan Tech Campus Store, University Images, and online at bookstore.mtu.edu. We’ll be offering Winter Carnival long and short sleeve t-shirts, crewneck sweatshirts, hoodies, and glassware. For store operating hours, check our website and social media feeds. Don’t forget! We will be open until 10pm on Wednesday, February 8th, for the all-nighter. Stop by to warm up and enjoy some fun games! Accept no substitutes as we are your official headquarters for all your Michigan Tech and Winter Carnival apparel and souvenirs.
MUB Events During Winter Carnival
MUB will be hosting Live Band Karaoke in the MUB Commons from 8-11 on Wednesday. It’s like regular karaoke, but with a band that knows 500+ songs.
We will also be hosting Escape the Snow, an event in collaboration with Wellness’ Bigfoot Glowshoe. We’ll have snacks, movies, and art & crafts in the MUB Commons while people wait to go snowshoeing. It runs from 9-11pm on Thursday evening.

The Rozsa Center is pleased to welcome the acclaimed theater troupe “Tout A Trac” from Quebec, Canada, with their adaptation of Lewis Caroll’s Alice in Wonderland for two shows onSaturday, February 18, at 2:30 PM and 7:30 PM. Fun for all ages!

Social Justice Lecture Series: Dr. Robin Johnson-Cash
Tuesday, February 14th, CDI will be hosting Dr. Robin Johnson-Cash for our next Social Justice Lecture Series.
Join us for refreshments and an engaging talk about Robin’s lengthy experience as an executive at Ford Motor Company and as the first black women to graduate from Michigan Tech’s very own MEEM with a Ph.D.
We will be in the MUB Alumni Lounge on Feb 14th from 5pm-7pm. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome!
Graduate Research Colloquium
Your are invited to attend the biggest research meeting of graduate students on campus – the Graduate Research Colloquium. The event organized by Graduate Student Government, will be held on February 15 – 16, 2017 in the MUB Ballroom. Poster presentations will be from 9 AM – 12 PM on Wednesday, February 15, followed by a Networking Social to interact with the presenters in a casual setting. Oral presentations will take place in various rooms on Wednesday, February 15 from 1 to 4 PM, and on Thursday, February 16 from 9 AM to 4 PM. Seeking Nominations for the 23rd Annual Student Leadership Awards
At Michigan Tech we are blessed with students that are crazy smart, motivated and adventurous. As faculty and staff, we partner with these students to inspire community, scholarship, possibilities, accountability, and tenacity. And we realize how lucky we are to be able to work alongside them in their academic and career pursuits. Now is the time to recognize these students for their commitment, enthusiasm, and leadership. On behalf of the University, we are seeking nominations for the President’s Award for Leadership, Vice President for Student Affairs and Advancement Award for Service, and various other student leadership awards. The recipient of each award will be honored at the 23rd Annual Student Leadership Awards Ceremony at 6:00 PM, Friday, April 14, 2017, in the Ballroom of the Memorial Union Building.
The nomination process is simple and actually quite easy. All awards and information about each can be found on the web at http://www.mtu.edu/student-affairs/interests/awards/. For each individual award, simple click on the award title, then complete and submit the nomination form.
Nominations for the President’s Award for Leadership and the Vice President for Student Affairs and Advancement Award for Service are due by 5:00 PM, Friday, March 3, 2017.
Nominations for all other Student Leadership Awards are due by 5:00 PM, Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

Student Philanthropy Council Hosting Michigan Tech Trivia Night

Looking for something to do over spring break? The Outdoor Adventure Program is leading a trip the Buffalo River in Arkansas.
The Pavlis Honors College is now accepting applications for Fall 2017!
You are eligible to apply if you have 2-4 years remaining on campus. PHC’s Learning Community offers 6 distinct pathways on which students may build their honors program: Global Leadership, Peace Corps Prep, Research Scholars, Enhanced Enterprise Experience (E3 ), New Venture, and Custom Pathway. Most of you at Tech are already doing the things that PHC requires from its graduates. We have a team of faculty and staff from various disciplines that will help you package it into a rewarding and meaningful education that differentiates PHC students from their peers. Food Pantry Volunteers Needed
Husky Food Access Network (HuskyFAN) is in need of volunteers to keep the food pantry open. The pantry is open from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday.
Volunteers are needed for any amount of time they are able to offer.

University Launches CommUNITY Campaign
The CommUNITY campaign is a new campus-wide effort to promote the values set forth in Michigan Tech’s Strategic Plan.
“We Inspire Community” is the first value listed in the Strategic Plan. It states, “We inspire an engaged community that actively seeks improvement through acceptance and understanding.”
The CommUNITY campaign will include promotional materials and programming geared toward raising awareness and promoting actions that reflect these values.
Throughout the year, you will be introduced to multiple ways to engage with this campaign.

Sexual Violence Support Group
T.E.A.L (To Empower And Liberate) is a group that provides support to Michigan Tech Students who have experienced sexual violence including childhood sexual abuse or sexual assault. Our group provides support to individuals of recent or past sexual violence in a safe, non-judgmental group. With the help of group support individuals can find understanding and help by sharing their struggles and triumphs with one another and begin to put their lives back together.
T.E.A.L meets every other Thursday from 6:00pm to 7:30pm starting January 19, 2017 on campus. Through discussion, support and education we can help one another.
