This week at the Memorial Union North Coast Grill and Deli, we are featuring a menu from China.

The menu features:

  • Potato Stewed Pork Ribs

  • Chinese Green Bean Soup

Movie Night

The Graduate Student Government and the Film Board invite you to the Movie Night this friday February 24 in Fisher 135. Two movies will be screened through the evening, and entry to both are FREE! Can think of something better? Dinner will be provided between the two movie screenings.

The event starts at 5.30 PM with the screening of “Captain Fantastic” followed by a brief discussion on the topic “My Family is Better Than Your Family”. Free popcorn and soda will be provided to the first 100 attendees for this movie. The discussion will be moderated by Willam Lytle and Melissa Michaelson. At 9 PM, the second movie “Apollo 13” will be screened.

What: SWE General Meeting – Get to know your SWEsters!
When: Wednesday (3/1) from 6-7pm
Where: M&M U115
Details: We will be playing get to know you bingo as well as Minute to Win It games (involving snacks) and prizes for the winners. This is a great meeting to come to if you have never been to a SWE meeting. We will also start talking about elections for next year so if you are interested in becoming more involved now is the time to learn how.


Tech Theatre Presents Hilarious “Game Show” Play: “Sexual Perversity in Chicago”

Sexual Perversity in Chicago, a play opening this week in Michigan Tech’s McArdle Theatre, will be presented as a hilarious on-stage “game show,” using mature and graphic language to reveal the awkwardness, heartache and humor of American sexual behavior.

Performance dates are ThursdaySaturday, February 16 – 18 and 23 – 35, 7:30 PM each night, in the McArdle Theatre.

Tickets are on sale now, $13 for adults, $5 for youth, and no charge for Michigan Tech students with the Experience Tech fee. Tickets are available by phone at (906) 487-2073, online at Rozsa.mtu.edu, in person at the Central Ticketing Office in the Student Development Complex, or the night of the event, one hour before show time, at the McArdle Theatre Box Office.


8th Annual CopperDog Race

Kick off your Spring Break on Friday, March 3rd by joining IPS at the famous CopperDog 150 dogsled race in Historic Downtown Calumet, Michigan. We will cheer on the racers and dogs at the start of their three day, 135 mile journey from Calumet to Copper Harbor and back. Our bus leaves the MUB bus stop at 5:30 pm and returns to campus at 8:30 pm.

Seeking Nominations for the 23rd Annual Student Leadership Awards

At Michigan Tech we are blessed with students that are crazy smart, motivated and adventurous. As faculty and staff, we partner with these students to inspire community, scholarship, possibilities, accountability, and tenacity. And we realize how lucky we are to be able to work alongside them in their academic and career pursuits. Now is the time to recognize these students for their commitment, enthusiasm, and leadership. On behalf of the University, we are seeking nominations for the President’s Award for Leadership, Vice President for Student Affairs and Advancement Award for Service, and various other student leadership awards. The recipient of each award will be honored at the 23rd Annual Student Leadership Awards Ceremony at 6:00 PM, Friday, April 14, 2017, in the Ballroom of the Memorial Union Building.

The nomination process is simple and actually quite easy. All awards and information about each can be found on the web at http://www.mtu.edu/student-affairs/interests/awards/. For each individual award, simple click on the award title, then complete and submit the nomination form.

Nominations for the President’s Award for Leadership and the Vice President for Student Affairs and Advancement Award for Service are due by 5:00 PM, Friday, March 3, 2017.

Nominations for all other Student Leadership Awards are due by 5:00 PM, Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

Student Philanthropy Council Hosting Michigan Tech Trivia Night

Food Pantry Volunteers Needed

Husky Food Access Network (HuskyFAN) is in need of volunteers to keep the food pantry open. The pantry is open from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday.

Volunteers are needed for any amount of time they are able to offer.

The CommUNITY campaign is a new campus-wide effort to promote the values set forth in Michigan Tech’s Strategic Plan.
“We Inspire Community” is the first value listed in the Strategic Plan. It states, “We inspire an engaged community that actively seeks improvement through acceptance and understanding.”
The CommUNITY campaign will include promotional materials and programming geared toward raising awareness and promoting actions that reflect these values.
Throughout the year, you will be introduced to multiple ways to engage with this campaign.

Sexual Violence Support Group

T.E.A.L (To Empower And Liberate) is a group that provides support to Michigan Tech Students who have experienced sexual violence including childhood sexual abuse or sexual assault. Our group provides support to individuals of recent or past sexual violence in a safe, non-judgmental group. With the help of group support individuals can find understanding and help by sharing their struggles and triumphs with one another and begin to put their lives back together.

T.E.A.L meets every other Thursday from 6:00pm to 7:30pm starting January 19, 2017 on campus. Through discussion, support and education we can help one another.
