Plant-A-Palooza
You’re invited to Plant-A-Palooza! Come join Student Activities in the OAP backyard to plant a succulent (and take it home) and decorate a Kindness Rock!

 Copper Harbor Sunset Cruise
“Interested in an unforgettable cruise in Lake Superior along the shoreline of Copper Harbor? Join Student Activities and Housing and Residential Life as they cruise with The Isle Royale Line to experience the beauty oSunset Cruise Af a Keweenaw sunset.
Cost is $5 and includes transportation to and from Copper Harbor and a ticket to ride the boat.
In order to sign up, go to the Student Activities office in the Memorial Union Building, Room 112, with your payment, between 8am-4pm Monday through Friday. Space is limited, so sign-up soon!

Student News Briefs – July 21, 2017

2017 Parade of Nations

Now is the time for student organizations to think about their involvement in the 2017 Parade of Nations which will be held on Saturday, September 16.  The Parade begins at 11:00 AM in Hancock near the Huntington Bank building, and marches to the Dee Stadium in Houghton where the multicultural festival will take place from approximately noon to 3:00 PM.  The theme for the 2017 Parade of Nations is “Think Globally, Celebrate Locally.”

 Student organizations can:

 1) Have a float in the Parade (register here) and win cash in the float contest!

 2) Sponsor a food or crafts booth at the multicultural festival (register for craft booth or food booth)

 3) Showcase their talents by being a part of the entertainment – this is open to individuals too!  (register here)

 4) Volunteer to help (email ips@mtu.edu)

 Is your organization short on cash?  Activity Grant Available.

 This year’s headline act is China Gold, sponsored by the Parade of Nations and the Rozsa Center for Performing Arts.  See an expert display of Chinese martial arts, dance and acrobats.  China Gold showcases the Dragon Dance, Lion Dance, Wushu Shaolin Kung Fu, high flying acrobatics, and several sensational Chinese female dancers.  The performance will take place at the Rozsa Center on Saturday, September 16 at 7:30 PM.  Tickets go on sale August 16.  Visit mtu.edu/rozsa for details and ticket information.

Sunset Cruise A Student Activities and Housing & Residence Life is hosting an evening for students on the Isle Royale Queen IV cruise ship out of Copper Harbor on Wednesday, August 8, 2017. The trip cost is $5 and includes transportation from the MUB to Copper Harbor and back and will depart from the MUB Shuttle stop at 6 pm.

Sign ups are available in the Student Activities office (MUB 112). Please remember to bring student ID and $5 to reserve your spot.
