The Rozsa Calendars Are In
The Rozsa Calendars are here! Once again this year we have both full-size wall calendars and the handy pocket/desk calendars that fit neatly in purses, pockets, and of course by your phone on your desk. Pick up one of each or even both at the Rozsa Center or at any of the more than 120 local Houghton and Hancock businesses who display and distribute them each year.
Featured this year are 12 Rozsa Presenting Series events, more than 33 Visual and Performing Arts events including music, theater and visual arts events, and the ever-popular 41 North Film festival. Participate in Parade of Nations
Now is the time for student organizations to think about their involvement in the 2017 Parade of Nations which will be held on Saturday, September 16th. The Parade begins at 11:00 am in Hancock near the Huntington Bank building and marches to the Dee Stadium in Houghton where the multicultural festival will take place from approximately noon to 3:00 pm. The theme for the 2017 Parade of Nations is “Think Globally, Celebrate Locally”.
Student organizations can:
- Have a float in the Parade (register here) and win cash in the float contest!
- Sponsor a food or crafts booth at the multicultural festival (register for craft booth or food booth)
- Showcase their talents by being a part of the entertainment – this is open to individuals too! (register here)
- Volunteer to help (email ips@mtu.edu)

This year’s headline act is China Gold, sponsored by the Parade of Nations and the Rozsa Center for Performing Arts. See an expert display of Chinese martial arts, dance and acrobats. China gold showcases the Dragon Dance, Lion Dance, Wushu Shaolin Kung Fu, high flying acrobatics, and several sensational Chinese female dancers. The performance will take place at the Rozsa Center on Saturday, September 16, at 7:30 pm. Tickets are on sale now. Visit mtu.edu/rozsa for details and ticket information.
China Gold was recently featured on international television, reaching an estimated 1.7 billion viewers worldwide. Tickets are on sale now, $10 for adults, $5 for children and no charge for students who have paid the Experience Tech fee. Tickets are available by phone, (906) 487-2073, online at mtu.edu/rozsa, in person at the Central Ticketing Office in the Student Development Complex, or at the Rozsa Box office the night of the show. Please note the Rozsa Box Office is only open two hours before performances.

The Center for Diversity and Inclusion presents this year’s Social Justice Lecture Series.
Huskies will get a chance to see some truly engaging, educational and thought provoking speakers. The series is relevant and will speak to topics that touch on local, national and global levels. After each lecture there is a chance to continue the conversations after our speakers leave in a partner healthy dialogue series.

Tech Theatre Company To Hold Auditions
The Tech Theatre Company will hold auditions on September 6th and September 7th for Fires in the Mirror by Anna Devere Smith, which investigates the ethnic conflict in Crown Heights in 1991. A number of actors of various cultural backgrounds are needed. Auditions will be held at 7:00 pm each evening in the Walker 210 across the hall from the McArdle Theatre. Those who wish to participate are asked to arrive 15 minutes early, at 6:45 pm. The play run dates are from November 15 & 16 – December 2nd. The second play is Picasso at the Lapin Agile by Steve Martin. Auditions will be in the McArdle Theatre on September 6th & 7th at 7:00 pm. Play runs dates are October 12-14th & 18-20th.
