Parade of Nations is Seeking Volunteers

The Parade of Nations planning committee is seeking volunteers to help support this long standing community event. This year, the annual parade will take place on Saturday, September 18 beginning at 11 a.m. in Hancock and crossing the Portage Lift Bridge to the Chamber of Commerce in Houghton. We could not have made it to our 32nd annual parade without supporters who share their time with us each year!

Volunteers are needed to help with tasks before, during, and after the parade, such as flag distribution, carrying banners and flags during the parade, and cleanup after the event. We are also seeking volunteers who have a vehicle they might be willing to drive in the parade or groups who may wish to support others in creating a float. This is an excellent opportunity to connect with your local community and to partake in a one-of-a-kind celebration of unity!

If you are interested in helping to make this year’s parade a success, please fill out this form and a Parade of Nations committee member will be in touch with you about volunteering soon. Please feel free to share this email and registration link with others across the wider Keweenaw community. For more information about the Parade of Nations, you can visit our website.

“Camp K-Day” Registration is OPEN!

It’s that time of year again, K-Day registration time!! K-Day Registration is still open, so reserve your spot now! Space and resources are limited, so do not delay!  This year’s theme will have you wanting s’more at Camp K-Day!  Organizations can get creative with this summer camp-themed student organization fair!
K-Day, or Keweenaw Day, is an annual tradition that will be held on Friday, September 10 beginning at noon. Students head to Chassell Centennial Park for an afternoon of food, fun, and music – it’s like a week of summer camp all in one afternoon!  K-day typically sees 3000-4000 students so this is an important recruitment opportunity for your organization.  Please have your organization’s event finalized before registering HERE.
Keep in mind, the person you list as the primary contact for your organization’s registration will be the one receiving all communications.  They will need to keep an eye out for emails during the summer in case of any changes that are made to K-Day due to any updates we may need to make in regards to our campus Healthy and Safety Levels.
Questions about K-Day can be directed to Rochelle Spencer at raspence@mtu.edu
