Career Cost is back!

The Career Closet is a give-away of gently worn business clothing possible to assist students in preparing for Career Fair.

The Career Closet will be held on Saturday, February 18 from 1:00pm-5:00pm and Sunday, September 19 from 10:00am-2:00pm. This event will take place in the Superior Room and Makerspace in the Memorial Union Building.

Free Professional Headshots for Students at Career Fair

The Office of Alumni Engagement is offering free professional headshots for students during Spring Career Fair, taken perfectly for your Handshake or LinkedIn profiles. A photographer will take headshots on February 22, 2023, from 12-4 p.m. at the SDC. 

Photos will be taken first come, first served. Each student will take (1) test shot and then have a limit of (3) posed shots. 

Please sign up if you intend to utilize this free service. The deadline to sign up is 4 p.m. on February 21, 2023. This sign-up is for us to have an approximation of expected crowds and does not guarantee you will be able to get in at that exact time.

REAC: Modernizing the Railroad

REAC’s February GBM is happening Monday, Feb 20 in Fisher 328 at 7PM. This week we have MTU alum Tom Bartlett (EE, 2008) from Automated Railroad Maintenance Systems. Come see what he’s doing in industry to advance and modernize rail transportation!


Michigan Tech Recreation

IT’S (almost) WIBIT WEDNESDAY!!

Come make a splash with our new inflatable pool obstacle course called the WIBIT! You can test your individual skills on the course or challenge your friend to a race across the obstacles. Events will be held this spring for current MTU Students and SDC Access Pass Holders (minimum 1-month). Student/Access ID is required to be presented upon entry into the pool area and a swim test is required before accessing the obstacle.

DOGHOUSE TOURNAMENT

Registration for our 2023 Doghouse Classic 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament is OPEN!!

Our Doghouse Tournament will take place Saturday, April 22, 2023, and includes Men’s and Women’s Open groups who would like to compete in this exciting basketball tournament!

This tournament is an excellent opportunity to have some fun playing 3-on-3 basketball in a friendly yet competitive environment. Prizes for division champs and event swag for all participants!

WUPFSC Spring Photo Contest 2023

The Western UP Food Systems Collaborative invites you to join us in sharing our food stories! We are hosting a photo contest to celebrate our communities’ rich foodways. You are invited to submit one or more photos you love for their look, message, or personal meaning to at least one of the following categories: 

  1. Living off the Land 
    1. Examples: Hunting, Gathering, Foraging, Food Landscapes, Health, Well-being
  2. Make It, Bake It, Preserve It
    1. Examples: Canning/Preserves, Value Added Goods, Food Dishes, Gifting Practices, Storing Produce for Winter
  3. Food as Community
    1. Examples: Sharing a dish with family, Trading, Buying from local vendors, Seed swapping, Community gardening, Sharing meals
  4. Growing Practices & Food Prep
    1. Examples: Compost, Crop covers, Hoop houses, Gardening, Preparations for season changes, Preparing for storing food, Preparing meals
  5. Youth (Participants who are 17 or younger)

Photos accompanied by a title and short description can be submitted by using this form. Participants are limited to 5 submissions per person. Submissions are due on February 27 at 11:59 pm EST and winners will be announced shortly thereafter. 

We hope that this contest inspires you to share stories about our community. Sharing your stories with the public is one way to generate knowledge about our community and this knowledge has the power to inspire social change. Please invite others to contribute to or hear our stories – feel free to forward the attached flyer to others.

Your photos and stories may also be published on the WUPFSC website, the WUPFSC annual report, or in other WUPFSC publications. Reduce Your Use

Join us at the Center for Student Mental Health and Well-being on Wednesdays from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. for our Reduce Your Use group support session. This is a non-judgmental space for students to explore their substance use habits while learning sustainable methods to feel more in control of their substance use. You can learn more and sign up on our group therapy webpage.  


7th Annual Pancake Breakfast

Join Phi Delta Chi and Xi Sigma Pi for our Annual all-you-can-eat Pancakes Breakfast!! We will have things, so many yummy things including Pancakes (OG, Gluten Free, Choco chip), hash browns, and more. So come down to the MUB Commons this Saturday from 12p-3p to enjoy and bring your friends. We will be accepting cash, Venmo, and card.
