Pre-Finals Week Pajama Party
The semester is nearly done and finals are coming up, so we’re letting loose in our pajamas! Join us on Saturday, April 20th at 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. for a Late Night Program and Film Board Pajama Party at Fisher Hall 135 and 132.
Come as you are or wear your favorite pajamas, slippers, and/or robe. Bring a stuffed animal to show off. There will be gluten-free and vegan snacks available and copious amounts of popcorn. Monsters University (2013) will play (for FREE!) in Fisher 135 and there are board games in Fisher 132 for all players. Bring your friends and have some downtime in your p.js watching a movie, eating snacks, and playing games.
K-Day Registration is Open!
Attention all Registered Student Organizations! Get your dice rolling and your trivia hats on because K-Day is just around the corner, and this year, it’s all about Trivial Pursuit! Mark your calendars for September 6th and gear up for a day filled with excitement, knowledge, and endless fun.
What is K-Day, you ask? Well, it’s none other than Keweenaw Day, an annual extravaganza of student involvement held at the scenic Chassell Centennial Park. Picture this: a vibrant atmosphere buzzing with the chatter of students, delicious food wafting through the air, lively music setting the mood, and a plethora of activities to engage in. With an average turnout of 3500-4000 students, K-Day is the ultimate platform for your organization to shine and attract new members.
But here’s the twist – this year, we’re putting a spin on things with our Trivial Pursuit theme! Show off your organization’s knowledge prowess and creativity by planning an activity that aligns with the theme. Whether it’s trivia games, brain teasers, or interactive challenges, let your imagination run wild and make your booth a must-visit destination for all attendees.
Registration is open now, so don’t miss your chance to secure your spot at this epic event. Make sure to have your organization’s activity finalized before registering, as space is limited, and you won’t want to miss out. And remember, the primary contact listed during registration will be the point person for all communications, so keep an eye on your inbox throughout the summer for any updates or changes.

Finals Week with the Van Pelt and Opie Library
The end of the semester often comes with a lot of stress. The Library wants to help! Along with campus partners we are planning things to help ease that stress, take much needed breaks, and tackle your studies.
- Pet Photos: Enjoy pictures of you and your friends’ pets up on our digital displays while you study. – First and Second Floors, Library
- Brain Break Stations: give your brain some time off with games, coloring, snacks, and other odds and ends to fidget with. – First and Second Floors, Library
- Pet Therapy: Spend time with trained therapy dog teams for adorable destressing. April 17, 19, 20, 21, & 22nd, afternoons – First Floor, Library
- Snacks: Multiple groups, including Student Mental Health and Wellbeing, will be in the library at various times with snacks to keep you fueled and your brain powered up. First Floor, Library

Join us this Saturday to learn about cooking, eating, and growing mushrooms! Attending the event is free! Oyster mushroom grow kits will be available for $5 each, and ready-to-fruit kits are $15 each.

Husky Exchange is Back!
Moving out but don’t have room for everything? Give it a new home with Husky Exchange!
Throughout Final Exam Week and Move-Out Weekend, MTU’s Office of Sustainability and Resilience is hosting its annual Husky Exchange program where students donate unwanted items that will then be redistributed to next year’s residents. As long as your items are clean and useful, look for the Husky Exchange logo and leave them at any residence hall drop-off locations.
Welcomed Items: Pool Noodles, clothing, food, houseware, furniture, broomball sticks, small appliances, etc.
Rule of Thumb: If it’s clean and useful, leave it with Husky Exchange!

Mosaic for Earth Presented by Michigan Tech Music

The Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra and Michigan Tech Choirs, conducted by Jared Anderson, close the Rozsa’s 2023/2024 season with the spectacular Great Lakes premiere — and second performance ever — of Dwight Bigler’s “Mosaic for Earth.”
Over 150 musicians — students, faculty, staff, and community members — will gather on the Rozsa stage for this awe-inspiring performance.
Throughout the 100-minute concert, audiences can expect to be swept away by breathtaking visual scenes designed to accompany the music. Together, they showcase the beauty of our planet and our responsibility to protect it.
The choirs and orchestra are joined by the Houghton Area Children’s Chorus and guest soloists Soren Schmidt, Lara Neves, Kathryn Summersett, and Drake Dantzler.
Survey to provide women’s lab coats at the chemistry store!

As requested by students, Women in Physics and the Chemistry Graduate Safety Committee have made a survey to better understand the usage and quantity of those who would purchase a women’s lab coat. The questions cover needed sizes, lab coat specifications, etc., and will help provide information that is needed to get them in stock at the Chemistry Store.

S-STEM Husky PAWS Scholarship
The S-STEM Husky PAWS (Pathways for Academic Wellness and Success) Scholarship Program awards one-year finishing scholarships for Pell students (determined by the Federal Pell Grant Program) majoring in the College of Engineering, College of Computing or in physics/applied physics who are completing their bachelor’s degrees or accelerated master’s degrees. This scholarship is awarded for one year, up to $15,000 for bachelor’s students and $20,000 for master’s students.
These scholarships are made possible through funding from the National Science Foundation’s Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM) program, which seeks to support the recruitment, retention and graduation of academically talented low-income students.
Students can apply for an S-STEM finishing fellowship by completing the S-STEM Finishing Fellowship Husky PAWS Scholarship Application. This application is due April 26 by 5 p.m. EDT.
In addition to the financial scholarship support, Husky PAWS includes a variety of professional development programming throughout the academic year to support student graduation and career success.

Women In Natural Resources Plant Sale
Hello! Women in Natural Resources will be holding our annual Plant Sale TODAY and TOMORROW (April 17th and 18th), from 10am-2pm! This event will be held in the atrium of the U.J. Noblet Forestry building, just up the road from the main campus. We will be selling houseplants, succulents, herbs, pots, handmade macrame, and more! Items will be available for purchase in person during the time of the event. Hope to see you there!

Join Women in Physics as we host guest speaker Dr. Elise Rosky on April 24th at 4 PM in Fisher 130. Dr. Rosky will share her remarkable journey from completing her PhD to her current postdoctoral studies, highlighting her research in atmospheric physics and the exciting world of cloud particles.
